Speckled Words

 

Hello Everyone, Jackie K here with an example of the Speckled Word Technique.

 

 

I had a lot of fun making this card, as I love to color and going dotty was a blast. It wasn't until I finished and looked at the card at a distance, that I realized how effective this technique is. I can imagine using this for many occasions and one thing that comes to mind are place cards. I know my grandchildren would get a kick out of seeing their names dotty style.

Simple Frames meets Paper Piecing

Hi Junkies, Tricia here...a little late this week.  I am finishing up my Christmas Cards and I made this easy card using stamps from Gina K Designs and Stampin Up!

I colored the stuff in the bag with copics.  I cut out the bag from the Gina K Designs cardstock that I also used for the card.

Sentiment is from Stampin Up!

Circle Strips TOTW

 

Hello everyone, Jackie K here with the TOTW Circle Strips with a little added something from last weeks TOTW.

I think I will be looking at making more customizable (is that a word?) embellishments with this technique. You can make them to fit whatever color or design you are using.. COOL!

Back to this weeks TOTW I used a slightly larger strip so I could make a larger card. I am bored with the regular sized cards I ordinarily make. I was thinking with this technique you could customize your strips for any occasion by stamping them. I might have to try that with the next birthday card I make.

Faux Die Plate by Judy Jackson

Did you know that last week was Thanksgiving? But you probably don't know my hubby and I hosted 22 people for dinner that day and I had 5 overnight guests (which included our 3 precious little granddaughters which was fun!) and they were here for 3 nights.  So I had to roast and carve two turkeys and all the fixings. Nor do you know I had to create 22  place cards with stamping and coloring. Nor do you know that I planned and prepared 2 crafts for all of the kiddos after the Thanksgiving meal.  And last Friday was our twin granddaughter's 7th birthday -- at our house.  And they wanted a homemade board game made by Gramma - first grade teaching skills came to my rescue! So we had more guests for a meal and more cleanup to do, etc., etc.

All of that is to say, I am pretending this Thursday was my assigned day in November to post a card to this blog.  My life was crazy last week.  It was a fun week but crazy, none the less!

I love this technique!  When you look at this scan, you might think that the die cut is quite large - but nope it is not. It is not A2 size, not even close. It is quite fun to look at your dies in a whole new way for this technique. The Faux Die Plate technique is from the October/November 2013 issue of the Technique Junkie newsletter.

Then we have the lovely humming bird "dream" stamp which is from -- ta da!  the Technique Junkies stamp line! I have used that stamp a lot over the years when I acquired it from the former Stamp Camp company. 

I think the bird and the flowers go together wonderfully. And right now on this cold damp day, I wish I were able to look at a humming bird fluttering around some bright red flowers on  vine!

Try That Technique Challenge

Good Mornin' Ladies: Nancy Dawson here with our next Try That Technique Challenge! Circle Strips was featured in the December/January 2014 Technique Junkie Newsletter. It is so interesting, quick and easy to make. The circles adds interest by being varied at the bottom of your strip.

I used Stampin' Up materials including the Season of Style Designer Paper Pack. I just love these since they are 4 1/2 x 6 1/2, perfect for card-making and you get 48 sheets! A stamp from the Tag It set and cut with the Chalk Talk Framelits added just the perfect sentiment.
