TJ Inkspirations: Poppy Color Sandwich

Today I have a technique that was based on an technique I had published in the Technique Junkie Newsletter years ago, called Color Sandwich. One of the things I love about resurrecting older techniques is that it reminds us that great ideas never go out of style!

Along with our technique video today I have a kit for you in case you would like to make the card yourself. Here is the card:

All a girl needs ...

When I was in my 20's and 30's, I had so many shoes that my father used to call me Imelda. (If you don't understand that reference, google Imelda Marcos shoes). The truth is, I would totter around on my heels all day, then come home, kick them off, and snuggle my dog. Life was good!

This card uses the All a Girl Needs stamp over a Shimmering Bliss sprayed background (Dragon's Blood, Wine Stain and Just Squeezed). The background stamp is the Delicate Doodles background.

I still love shoes - but I am a little more conservative with heel size and comfort : )

A little more you

Stamps and products are 10% off with code TJ10Beth.  How exciting!

For step-by-step directions for making this card, please see below.

A little more you.  Does this stamp resonate with you like it does me?  I am a little eccentric, wearing funky glasses, big rings, and hair cuts.  That's all I could think about when I saw A Little More You.

Image 1

Directions for Making my Card

1.  Stamp out the image on the bottom left of the card.

2.  Create a mask by using a sticky note.  That means stamping out the image along the top of a sticky part of the note so when you cut out the lady's body, there will be enough to hold the sticky note in place. Cut out just the lady.

3.  With your stamped image on white, carefully cut the words off.  Cut the words into pieces like above and set aside.

4.   Stamp out flowers from You are the World.  Create masks three times, one for each flower.

5.  With masks in place, blend colour, completely covering the background.

5.  With a stencil, or stencil-like product, sponge to create a decorative background.  HERE IS WHAT I USED--a bag that held three pieces of garlic.  The garlic bag is loose and works beautifully in amongst tighter spaces.

6.  Colour images.

7.  Glue sentiment in a vertical position.

I would love to see your interpretation of this stamp.  Please post it to the Technique Junkies Facebook page so I can see your work.

Popcorn is my favorite food group

I have always adored popcorn. I could eat it exclusively all day, every day! Not so great for my current low carb lifestyle, but one day, when the cinemas open again, I am going to splurge. The Popcorn stamp is part of the February New Stamp Release - they are 15% off through end of day today (February 8th). The sentiment is also from the new release: Go to the Movies, set of 7.

Don't miss out on the sale!

Endlessly Create Yourself

Hello friends.  Today I have another card featuring these lovely stamps from the Technique Junkies February release celebration.  All new release stamps are 15% off through February 8th.  Use my code, TJ10Lynda, to take an additional 10% off!.

For my card today, I used:

How I made it:
  • On a white A2 card front, I stamped the Poppy Arrangement along the left side and bottom of the card front, using distress ink.  I did this in my Misti so that I could get a stronger image.
  • I stamped the Endlessly Create Yourself image with a blue Archival ink.
  • I used distress ink with a blending brush for the distressing around the card.
I hope you like my CAS easy card.  I don't usually do CAS, but once in a while the image just calls for it.

Don't forget to use my code, TJ10Lynda, for an extra 10% off your entire order when you shop at the TJ store!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Blessings,
