Festive Wreath Card

I used the Technique Junkies Christmas Sponge set - http://techniquejunkies.com/christmas-sponge-set/ to create this wreath.  I used two different green markers and a red marker to color the leaves and holly berries.  I stamped the holly on strips of white  card stock and used a very similar curved holly punch and punched out the leaves.  Cut a larger circle for the base of the wreath.  I didn't do this and I should have as it would have made it much easier.

I traced around a round bottle for the shape of the wreath.  I adhered holly leaves down with a tape runner for the first layer.  Then I used foam tape in thin strips curved under the leaves.  I cut an interesting shape from red card stock to lay the wreath on and adhered it.  I used Liquid Pearls in a lovely red color for the berries - both where they were stamped and in other places as I thought they needed to be in place. I let it dry over night.  A multi loop wreath (with my "Bow Easy")  was adhered with a glue dot.

The wreath panel was adhered to a layer of background paper which was adhered to the base layer of red card stock.  I stamped the Technique Junkies Merry Christmas - http://techniquejunkies.com/merry-christmas-2/ - with black Versafine  ink and heat embossed it.

Come back tomorrow for the November first Technique Junkies blog hop!  Lots of terrific new stamps ahead!

Happy day to you and get inky!

Pinecones Stamped on Recycled Paper

Hello Everyone,
Hope your day is going well!  I am still busy making Christmas cards.  I have completed quite a few already.  Let's check out a batch of Christmas cards I made using stamps from the October New Releases from Technique Junkies.

Now, being the fugal crafter that I am, I reused something to make the cards. Back story--I made a trip to the post office to send out a card order and buy some stamps.  The stamps were put in a nice shiny bag.  I thought it seemed like very interesting paper and I should not throw it out.  Okay, I know, not throw out a bag from the Post office??  But, really, just look at the bag.

As, you can see, I have stamped on the bag.  I used dye inks.  They worked the best.  I tried others but they did not turn out as well.  After cutting the bag apart, I was able to stamp five of the Pinecone images.  And, I turned the stamped bag into these cards...

Materials:
Stamps: Pinecones and All is Calm from Technique Junkies
Ink: Rich Cocoa and Tuxedo Black Memento dye ink
CS: gold
DP: Striped holiday paper MME
Burlap Snowflake ribbon
Charm
Bag from Post Office

Make It:

  • Make a card base with gold CS
  • Stamp Pinecones on the Post office bag with Rich Cocoa ink and trim to size
  • Add pinecones piece to card base
  • Tear pieces of decorative paper and add to the card base on corners

  • Stamp All is Calm with black ink in upper corner
  • Tie ribbon in bow
  • Glue charm and bow to card front

Two more color options:

Of course, I had to try the stamp on other types of paper and CS.  I used different ink colors too.  Here are some more examples using the same layout.

Stamped on other types of papers:
Glossy White CS

 Shimmery cream CS

Regular white CS

The cards went together pretty quickly.  I spent most of the time going through all my decorative papers to find striped papers that coordinated with the stamping and CS.  LOL   I made ten all together.  They are going in my Christmas card list box.

Hope you enjoyed checking out the cards!!  See you again soon for more Holiday projects!!

Mistletoe Mandala

Hello Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here with another post showcasing the October Technique Junkies release.  When I was making this card I really wanted to use the Mistletoe stamp in a different way so I performed a bit of stamp surgery by removing the attached sentiment.  Worry not, if you want to use your sentiment again, just put it together on the stamp block and it's good as new.  Once you start thinking about different ways you can use your stamps you'll be cutting away.

Once my stamp recovered from surgery I used the leaf portion to create a mandala pattern for a background.  Before I did this, I created a background of embossed circles using the Hero Arts infinity dies. To achieve this, lay out your circle dies and washi tape them together.  Then run it through your die cutting machine using the embossing pad.   Here's what they look like so you have an idea.

For my focal image I stenciled the Hero Arts Reindeer with Mustard Seed and Fossilized Amber inks. I fussy cut him out, stamped with the Mistletoe stamp then applied additional shading to make him pop.  My sentiment is from the gorgeous "Christmas Ornaments Trio Set of 9" which I embossed.

Beginning on November 15th through December 15th here on the Design Team Blog we will be celebrating 30 Days of Christmas where we will be showcasing all the gorgeous Holiday stamps made by Technique Junkies.  We hope you'll stop by for both some inspiration!

Happy Inking

Stained Embossing

Hello fellow stampers.  It's Beth Norman here with two cards to share with you today, both using the Stained Embossing technique found on the Artistic Effects CD.  I added orange cording and copper coloured brads. I had so much fun with this technique that I felt the need to create a second card.

My first card uses the sentiment called Find Our Way, which I thought paired well with all the swirls of the leaves in the wind.  My new-to-me embossing folder is from Darice.

My second card is a little unconventional because I rubbed Stampin' Up! Marina Mist over my embossing.  I find this to be a very funny card, using Partners in Crime (it has 6 sentiments) and Owls.  I created clouds behind the owls with a handmade cloud template.

Have a fabulous day!

Cats & Wine...

Greetings Inky Friends!

Another fun card using the

A card for all the Wine-lovers
on your Christmas card mailing list...

This background was created using alcohol based markers and hand sanitizer. I scribbled blocks of colored onto my craft sheet and then dropped hand sanitizer onto the blocks of color. I then dipped my GLOSSY card stock into the marker/sanitizer picking up color. The first grouping of colors weren't to my liking so I did the next in all shades of red and simply layered it onto the existing piece I didn't like!
This created a nice marbleized look!

This little fella just cracked me up!!
He's the Christmas Carol Kitty and I colored him
using Fun Stampers Journey

For the background, I used the
Christmas Ornaments Trio from Technique Junkies.

This card is purr-fect for all the Cat Lover's
on your Christmas Card sending list!

I love that there's always something for everyone over at Technique Junkies! Be sure to check them out!

Until next time...
Happy Creating!

Witchy Moon

Happy Thursday Junkies! Pam here today.  It's that spooky time of year, my favorite time of year for creating projects!  I just love the combination of colors that this time of year conjures up: oranges, yellows, blacks and purples.
So of course today's card features two especially "spooky" Technique Junkies stamps:
and

In order to get this fantastic Witch image on the forefront of this fun background, I first stamped the Witchy Moon and then covered it with Masking fluid.  Then I created the spooky sky background with Distress inks and a blending tool, spritzed a bit of water atop for added dimension.  Then finally I stamped the Spider Webs background stamp over top, removed the masking fluid and colored the moon.
Thanks for joining me today and I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween.
Embrace Imperfection!
Boo y'all!

All Is Calm

Hello, Inky Friends! I'm Ro and I'm absolutely thrilled to be one of the new Design Team Members here at Technique Junkies!  I am looking forward to sharing all the fun stamps and projects along with this fabulous Design Team!

For my first project, I just had to play with some of the winter background stamps. I know it's only October and Halloween hasn't even hit yet. But it's never too soon to get started on those Christmas cards...am I right?

This card is adapted from Pat Huntoon's Technique By Design from the archives (Feb 2010).  This technique can be found on CD  #8.  I have always been excited by using background stamps in different ways, and Snow Swirls and Sparkles are perfect complements to each other.

To start out, I stamped both backgrounds on a 4.25" x 5.50" piece of white cardstock using VersaMark.  Super easy to get a nice clean stamped image when using the MISTI!

I then added some white embossing powder and heat set both backgrounds.

This is where the messy fun begins!  Using Art Anthology Minx Shimmering Ink in Midnight, I added a few drops to each background image. With that handy tool everyone owns (a finger), I smooshed (that's a word, right?) the ink around to coat the entire piece of cardstock.

Look at that beautifulness!!!!

Next, I used a thin die (you could use a square punch or hand cut as well) and cut three squares out of each background.

I cut a piece of kraft cardstock to 5.25" X 3.50" and adhered the squares, alternating them in both rows and columns.

I then stamped and embossed the "All Is Calm" sentiment on kraft cardstock and cut it into a banner. I foam taped an embossed snowflake to the center of the card and mounted the banner on top. A couple of pearls in each corner finished off this card.

Here is a close-up of a section of the card. You can really see the beautiful detail of the embossed background images.

If you'd like to order any of stamps or inks, or the MISTI, used in this project, head over to the Technique Junkies site.  If you'd like to know more about me, I'd love it if you would visit my personal blog, Toodle Noodle Creative

Til next time,
Keepin' It Inky!

Mrs. Santa's List With Baubles

Hello Junkies!!!

Cheri Weston here and I'm very excited to be posting my very first blog post as a Technique Junkie Design Team Member.  Yay!!!!  I feel so fortunate to be part of such an amazingly talented group....I'm still pinching myself.

For my first blog post, I made an easy card to reproduce.  If you like to color (and I do), the focal image called "Mrs. Santa's List" is right up your alley.  I colored her with Copic Markers and used a little Viva Glitter Pen to give her collar and earring some bling, then framed her using Spellbinder Classic Oval dies. For the background I used a new background stamp called "Baubles" was so easy to do by heat embossing in Silver embossing powder.  Both stamps are from the October 2016 Release.  To finish it off, I "framed" the background layer using "Wonky Stitch" Die by Avery Elle and popped Mrs. Santa up off the bg layer using dimensional tape.

Thank you for stopping by!!!!

Metallic Graduated Star Book Holiday Decoration

Hello Everyone,
Karen McAlpine with you today to share a Holiday project.  Although it is only Fall and we are thinking about Halloween and Thanksgiving cards, I have been making Christmas projects this month. Trying to get a bit of a head start this year.  Today's project is made with a gorgeous October New Release from Technique Junkies.  This what the stamp looks like.

When I first saw that stamp, I thought silver embossing and then decoration or ornament.  Putting on the old thinking cap, I decided on the  Graduated Star Book (tutorial is from the Fancy Folds and Motion CD from Technique Junkies)

Materials List:
Stamp: Stars Are Brightly Shining from Technique Junkies
Ink: Versa Mark
Silver Embossing Powder
CS: white, dark green
DP: DCWV and Anna Griffin metallic papers
Green Ribbon
Green Stickles
Snowflake Punch
Tree Edge Punch
Happy and Christmas Words die cuts

Following the Graduated Star Book Tutorial I constructed the book.  I omitted the instructions for punching in the top layer.

Cover: Back
The book looks like this when it is closed and tied shut with ribbon.

Cover: Front

 Cover:Front and Back

Make It:

  • Follow the instructions on the tutorial to construct the book using white CS for the pagers and metallic papers for the second layer
  • On white CS, stamp the Stars are Brightly Shining Stamp with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with silver embossing powder - make 3
  • Cut the stamped image in half
  • Add the stamped pieces to the pages

  • Punch strips of dark green CS with the edge punch and glue to the edges of each page
  • Punch 14 snowflakes from metallic papers and add to the pages
  • Add glitter glue to the snow flakes

  • Die cut the words Happy and Christmas from green CS and add to the front and back covers
  • Glue long pieces of ribbon- one to the back and one to the front cover.  The ribbon will be  used to tie the book closed
  • Embellish covers with punched snowflakes, glitter glue and ribbon bows --Glue bows over the ends of the long ribbon pieces

More Pics:

This lovely star book could be hung or placed on a table for a pretty Holiday decoration.  It would also be a super nice card for an extra special person.  The stamp can also be used to make gorgeous cards.  Be sure to check out all the fabulous new release stamps here.

See you next time!!
