Good morning, Junkies! It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this pastel creation that I made for this week's WWDB (What We Do Best) challenge. This week we are making encouragement cards for the challenge, and the sentiments in the Modern Encouragements set are perfect for this.
I started by inking up the Bird and Letter Collage stamp with three different colors of Distress Oxide inks. You have to be a little brave and not worry about getting other colors on your ink pads when you do this. I just randomly dabbed some pink here, then some blue there and some green (actually Old Paper) there. Some of the colors did cross over and get onto the ink pads, but I don't mind. I figure I can always reink them if they get too muddy. While I had the Bird and Letter Collage stamp out, I inked it up again with the Old Paper Distress Oxide ink and pressed it an angle onto my envelope.
Since the image looked a little aged, I thought it would be nice to add some soft beige sponging around the piece. I sponged some Antique Linen Oxide on first, and then some Walnut Stain Oxide. The sentiment from the Modern Encouragements set was stamped with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink and I inked the edges of the paper with the Pinecone ink. Then I pulled out my distress tool (remember those??) and roughed up the edges for that aged, distressed look.
Come play along in our #WWDB challenge over on the Technique Junkies Facebook page. Just made an encouragement card using Technique Junkies stamps and decorate an envelope to go with it. Use the hashtag #WWDB so we can find your card. You could win $50 from Technique Junkies just for playing along!

Your card is so lovely, Holly. I like the softly colored look of the background. Your distress oxide inks combined so well. Your card is a true encouragement. tfs--stay well.
