Graduation Time - Limit is the Sky

 The Limit is the Sky is a stamp released this month, May 2023. 

It’s that time of year when senior students are getting ready to leave high school, spread their wings, and begin new chapters of their lives. This new stamp is an uplifting design and makes creating a special card for a graduate - easy. 

I stamped this in black then mounted on navy blue. I then layered it on a piece of black scrap paper, notched the sides - then mounted it on a bright yellow card base. Add a few random stars (you could use stickers, punched out starts, die cut stars, stenciled stars) and your card is complete.  Well, almost!  You might want to add some cash for that graduate before you seal the envelope! My husband calls that gift “instant joy”.

I love this new Betty White Sentiment set at Technique Junkies .  Betty White was such an inspiration and her loss was felt by many.  I'm so glad we can continue to celebrate her through our card making.  

This is my favorite sentiment in the set.  I paired it with a Butterfly swell die from Memory Box.   I sponged the background with Seedless Preserves.   I wanted the bottom to be darker and lighten as it moved closer to the top of the card.  I also cut black paper to make bodies for the butterflies.  They felt naked without them.

Okay, time for a show of hands... who loves Betty White? I do, in part because she claimed to love Elvis Presley on an episode of Designing Women but that's another card for another day. (Did you know Technique Junkies has an Elvis stamp???)

But I digress. Today is all about the Betty White Sentiments stamp set from this month's release. TJ Inkspiration: Masked Whimsical Daisies

Masked Daisies with a Colorful Background Isn't it fun to dig deep and pull out those old techniques? The Acrylic Block Inking is an oldie-but-goodie The Whimsical Daisies were colored with the same inks as the background using gold accents, then the daisies were masked before adding the ink in the background. I added one of the sentiments from the In Full Bloom set, too. The end result is a fun, colorful card that was made in minutes. The video tutorial is below. Safari Santa

YES! A Christmas card in May!

Hello! AJ here and I’m thrilled to be joining the Crafty Elves this month, as a guest elf. Our mission is to make a Christmas card (or two) every month to be ready when it’s time to mail out the holiday cards!

I created a slimline card featuring Technique Junkies Safari Santa stamp. Isn’t that giraffe with the Santa hat sweet? This card is colorful, quick to color, and even faster to put together. 

I made a slimline base: White card stock 7 inches x 9 1/4  score the 7 inch side at 3.75

I stamped Safari Santa with Archival Black ink. Colored hat and face with Tombow markers, cut out. This stamp has its own black border so it is ready to go!

I matted the stamped image onto holiday paper that has a green and red print. The piece wasn’t long enough to extend across the card so I used small red scraps on each end to extend it to a 9 inch length and 3 1/2 inch tall piece. If your holiday paper is long enough you can skip the red pieces.

7 Snowflakes:  I have a snowflake paper punch so I used that to make snowflakes. If you don’t have one you could use a snowflake stamp and heat emboss in white or purchase snowflake stickers. (Hey, maybe white flowers would work? There are white poinsettias, right?)

And because I wanted more pops of white I dug around in my stash and found a few white enamel dots to add here and there.  If you don’t have those try these ideas instead…sequins, gems, or a pencil eraser dipped in white ink (or paint) to make white dots. Get creative!

I hope this inspired you to make a few holiday cards early. I think I’ll make a few more while I’m in the mood. And to see more Crafty Elves Creations check these out…

Lovely Thistles

Happy day! Pam here and I am showcasing the lovely Thistle Border. It is perfect for a mini slimline creation. I stamped it in black and then using a variety of Zig watercolor brush markers, added color. To finish, I used some blue watercolor for splatters. I decided to opt out of the sentiment. Layered with black and onto a white card base!

Nature Heals

 

I don't know about you, but a good walk in the great outdoors helps soothe my soul when I a worried, hurt, or anxious. Today's card totally represents that to me!
 I used the Nature Heals sentiment with the Tree Branch Silhouette Stamp and the bird from the Every Bird stamp set. Before stamping any of it, I inked the Cloud Edger Stencil from ACLD.

Another favorite stamp from the May 2023 release is Never Walk Alone. I have many amazing friends and love to send cards to let them know how important they are to me. This new stamp creates beautiful cards and you can get many different looks, depending on the paper and cardstock you use.

 

• I stamped the Never Walk Alone  image with dark blue ink onto a piece of sunset patterned paper. I could not believe just how perfectly the stamped image fit into that paper !!
• 2 sizes of golden rhinestones were placed around the sun.
• The completed panel was adhered to a bright yellow card base to continue the sun theme.

Here are a few more examples using the Never Walk Alone stamp. 

• I used zig-zag design circle punches for these three cards. 

• The paper I stamped this one on reminded me of the colors of a sunset.

• I added several pale green rhinestones to this stamped image.

This stamp can create so many different looks. I know that I will use it often  for cards to send to my friends. Sympathy cards can be challenging to create but this stamp could also be used to let someone know that you are thinking of them  at a time of loss.

The Golden Girl ~ Betty White

Today I’m showcasing the new Betty White stamp set. Wasn’t Betty White wonderful? It seemed like she’d live forever with her career spanning over 6 decades. I’m sure we’ll be watching her sitcoms for years to come.  Lucky us! She had the happiest smile and funniest quotes.

I wanted to use several of her quotes on this bookmark so I made it large. Another idea is to create a slimline card. There’s plenty of room on them for lots of stamping!

Hello. Jeanette here. I'm one of the "newbies" this month. This is my first post on the TJ blog as a design team member. I'm so excited to be here. 

As a child I loved visiting my grandparents on their farm, but I quickly learned that one should never walk through thistle - well, not in flip flops anyway. Ouch! Not to worry, though. The BRAND NEW Thistle Border stamp from Technique Junkies is painless, but I would highly recommend you Never Walk Alone which is the name of another stamp in the new release.

Limit is the Sky

 My niece is graduating from college this week, and this card is meant to remind her that she can do anything. The Sky is the Limit!

Betty White was the perfect rose...

 

Betty White was blessed with a beautiful way to say the snarkiest things with the sweetest smile! Our Betty White Sentiments stamp set celebrates her as a woman and comedian.

The background of my card uses the Aladine Roses stencil with Catherine Pooler ink. After all, roses smell sweet but still have thorns - kind of like Betty White, right?
