Carnations Background with You Don't Look a Day Over Fabulous!

Hello everyone and welcome to 2024.  I hope y'all had a great New Year's Eve.  I even managed to stay up until midnight.  Yay!  To help usher in the new year, I have a quick card for you using the new Carnations background stamp that I paired with Day Over Fabulous sentiment.  I love background stamps and one thing I want to make this year are quick and simple cards using a background stamp and a sentiment.

  • I pulled out a sheet of yellow textured cardstock and cut it in half.
  • With one half I made a top-folding A2 card base.  Then I stamped the Carnations background stamp, using black ink, on the other half of the cardstock.
  • I die-cut a piece of black cardstock with a stitched rectangle die, embossed it with an embossing folder, and adhered it to my card front.
  • Next, I used a 3.25" x 4.5" stitched rectangle die to die-cut the center of the stamped Carnations background, adhered it to a piece of fun foam, and then to the card front.
  • Lastly, I stamped Day Over Fabulous on white cardstock, die-cut it with a stitched banner die, layered it on a piece of yellow cardstock, then black cardstock, and then to the card front.
What I love about this idea is that you can use any sentiment across the front that you want.

The Carnations background stamp is part of the January 2024 New Release and is 15% off until Monday, January 8th (no code needed).

Wicked Cute Halloween

 Hello,

Happy Halloween Junkies!!

This is the All About Halloween background stamp from TJ.  I love the different fonts and scary words that they incorporated into the design.  I can see myself reaching for this again and again.  I really wanted to highlight the words in this stamp.  I had some background left over from a pervious craft session.  I thought this one fit perfectly.

Concrete Love

 Hello Junkies!

Do you ever had an idea bouncing around in your head and can't wait to get it out on paper?   I used the mini ink spots to ink up the Concrete Texture background stamp.  It works out perfectly to fit five colors evenly across the image.  I love the subtle rainbow that it creates.   It is just full of texture!!  I finished the card off with a love die.   I used both the negative and the positive to add a sentiment.  Do you like the Hello or the Love version better?

Let Me See Your Shamrocks!

Hi Junkies!

Most of us have tons of background stamps.  I love them!  I'm always looking for new ways to use them.  Check out how I used ink cubes to get a multicolored background.  I hope you will give this a try.  It was so much fun to create!

Happy Crafting,

Chris

Foiling Game Changer!

 Hello Junkies!

It is Chris popping on today to share some exciting news! Foiling is a huge trend in stamping. I love the look but I wasn't excited about purchasing a bunch more dies. I found WoW bonding powder. I thought it would be awesome to try. The powder is really fine. Finer than most embossing powder. Check out the results in this video. Look out world... I can foil any of my stamps! Happy New Year

Hello Junkies!

Today I stepped (more of a creep than a leap) outside my comfort zone.  When I think Navy I usually think silver.   I've seen a lot of other card makers using gold with Navy.  I was inspired to give it try.  I have to say I LOVE it!  What do you think?  Do you have color hangups?

The Maid Sucks (Haha)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I thought I'd pop in... just in case you needed a little humor today.

Housework is never fun! Why do housework, when you can make cards, right?  Well I couldn't escape it forever, so we had a clean-a-thon this weekend.  The only dog hair in our house is on the dog at the moment.  I love this new stamp from Technique Junkies.   It fits me perfectly.

The top card reminds me of when you wash the windows and it leaves streaks.  At least when the sunshines it creates a beautiful rainbow.  😂   The second card was a "mistake" when I was trying to make a coffee background. I thought it looked like hair.... so I used it for this card.

I hope they give you a chuckle!

Create "Anyday" Cards All Year Round!

We MUST remember to create “anyday” cards to keep on hand, and today I am sharing a lovely variation with the “Leaves and Berries” stamp. This stamp is part of the November 2021 New Stamp Release from Technique Junkies.

I suppose it is intended to produce more “holiday-themed” projects, but when I saw this stamp I immediately thought of bright oranges, pinks, yellows and navy blue.

First, I stamped “Leaves and Berries” in VersaMark ink and embossed with a navy blue embossing powder. This creates significant border lines inside all the leaves, which is essential when coloring in with watercolor or ink.

To color in the leaves, I simply used my Nuvo Water Pen and my Distress Oxide Inks. I just “smooshed” the ink onto a slick surface (I use an acrylic block or my craft mat). Then, I treated the ink like watercolor and just colored in the lines. For final touches, I used the remaining smooshed ink to create a “spatter” around the edges.

The “Thinking of You” sentiment is one of the “Four Little Sentiments” set. I stamped it with Archival Ink and die cut with a Spellbinders die that I had in my stash. Honestly, this card design is perfect to make a set of cards and then customize each card with a different sentiment from the set. I really like the nice font and it stamps beautifully!

Before I adhered all the parts together for my card, I used scrap pieces of navy blue and yellow cardstock to create some grounding for my sentiment. Just imagine this card without the navy blue strips of cardstock… the sentiment would be “floating” around on the background. If your cards look like they “need something”, try adding a solid color strip or two (or three) across the entirety of the card and THEN add the sentiment. It should be just what your project needs!

Christmas Tag Card Idea

Mass-produce holiday cards easily by creating large "gift tags" to use as card panels!

I used the "Retro Ornaments" background stamp for this project. This background stamp is part of the October 2021 NEW STAMP RELEASE, but any background stamp would work great!

Create tags easily by trimming out the background-stamped area to about 4" x 3" (or whatever size you like). Then, LIGHTLY FOLD the rectangle in half (but be careful not to crease). While holding the folded paper, cut the corners off of one edge and unfold. Magic! Keep the cut corners and use on other projects!

Ink the edges of the tags, and add embellishments and sentiments of your choice. For this project, I used the "Snowflakes Set of 9" and a little ribbon and patterned paper from my craft stash.

I also used some snips of green scrap glitter paper instead of ribbon at the top of the tag. And I used one sequin instead of a brad... just because. 😊
