Hang 10, Nap, Swim, and Surf

Hello everyone.  I hope y'all had a safe, fun, and cool July 4th.  Today I am sharing another card using my new favorite stamp - Hang 10.  This is such a fun stamp to have in your arsenal.  Not only can it be used as a background, but each of the surfboards are very simple to fussy cut if you don't have a Scan N Cut.

If you want to recreate this card, here is what I did.

  • I made a top-folding A2 card using light blue cardstock.
  • I die-cut 2 pieces of white cardstock using a 4" x 5.25" stitched rectangle die and adhered 1 of them to the inside of the card for a message or note.
  • Using the Sunburst stencil from The Crafter's Workshop (retired), I brushed on yellow ink on the other piece of white cardstock.
  • I ripped a piece of kraft cardstock, sprayed it with permanent glue and added sand to the top.  I did several layers of the sand until I got the look I wanted.  Then I adhered it to the bottom of my card.
  • I stamped Hang 10 on white cardstock, used my Scan N Cut to cut the boards, colored 6 of the surfboards, and adhered them on the card front sitting in the sand.
  • Lastly, I stamped Beach Rules on white cardstock,  trimmed the words Nap*Swim*Surf, layered it on a banner die, and adhered it to the card front using foam squares.  There are several words on this stamp that you can use.
Done!

I hope you enjoyed this card idea.  If you shop on the Technique Junkies website, remember to use my code - TJ10Michael - at checkout to save 10% on your purchase.

Land ( and Recipes ) That I Love

Deb here with a few cards to get you in the mood for summer get-togethers and  the good food that goes along with them !! My first thought when I saw this Land That I Love stamp from the June Release was to stamp it or die-cut it and use it on a map background. But then I decided I wanted to try for something a little different. When I started thinking, I began to remember growing up in Pennsylvania , family picnics and the wonderful foods we would all bring to share . That transitioned to the "land that I love" now - Virginia and the South -  and some amazing new dishes that have also become favorites. And this idea was born !!

  • I found 2 recipes that I love in an old cookbook, tore them out and cut them down to fit on 5x7 Kraft card bases .
  • I wrote the recipes down to include with these cards before stamping/adhering anything on the recipe.
  • I stamped the USA images with Lady Bug and Nautical Blue Memento Dew Drop inks.
  • I also stamped the new June Release Celebrate America on blue paper with Nautical Blue ink  and cut strips to use like washi tape.
  • Nautical strips of paper were adhered on the recipes .
  • Glitter starts were placed on each card also.
  • Each completed recipe was adhered to the Kraft card base .

I can't help but think that my mom would have loved these cards !! I definitely would have made her one with her famous Macaroni salad recipe on it .. Or Apple Pie, one of her favorites. Here are a few more cards I made with this layout .

Soft-Shell Crab Sandwich

Sweet-Potato Streusel Pie

Hard to believe June is almost over !! I've enjoyed creating with the new release stamps for June and look forward to the July Release. I hope that you have been inspired by my cards this month . Two Times a Pirate and Two Times a Whole Mermaid

Hi everyone.  Design Team Member Michael here.  Again.  With another "one stamp/two cards" idea for you.  So, I have this rule...if I can't look at a stamp and think of at least 2 or more ideas, it's not worth buying it.  So, when I saw this Pirate or Mermaid stamp in the June 2023 Release, I thought, pirate card and mermaid card.  Perfect!

For my pirate card, I stamped Pirate or Mermaid on a piece of white cardstock and layered it on a piece of black cardstock.  I applied some white glue to the mermaid tail and then covered it with irridescent blue/greenish glitter, removed the excess, and set it aside to dry.  I made an A2 card and adhered some pirate paper to the front (sorry, a Brasilian brand) and then, once the mermaid was dry, I adhered it to my card front.

For my 2nd card idea, I stamped Pirate or Mermaid on a piece of white cardstock, which I trimmed and layered on a piece of dark purple cardstock.  I added wet glue to her tail, like in the first card, and then added the blue/greenish iridescent glitter.  I removed the excess and set it aside to fully dry.

Next, I stamped Fading Sea Scales, which is also part of the June 2023 Release, on a piece of light purple cardstock.  It has a bit of watercolor hue to it and looks perfect with the mermaid scales and the darker purple.  I die-cut it using a stitched rectangle die and then I applied wet glue to the edge of each of the scales and added blue/greenish iridescent glitter to them.  I removed the excess and set it aside to dry.

While they were drying, I made an A2 card using white cardstock, die-cut a piece of the dark purple cardstock with another stitched rectangle die, and adhered it to the card front.   Once everything was dry, I adhered the light purple with the Fading Sea Scales to the card front and then I adhered the Pirate or Mermaid to the center.

Again, two cards using one main focal stamp.  What do you think of this idea to get 2 cards using one main stamp?  I'd love to know.  Leave a comment below and let me know.  Also, if you love my ideas and want to get these stamps, or anything else on the Technique Junkies website, use my code TJ10Michael to get 10% off your purchase!

Until next time...hugs from Brasil.

Sunshine In Your Soul

Deb here with another post showcasing a stamp from the June Release - Sunshine In Your Soul . One of my favorite  techniques is paper-piecing and this stamp is perfect for that .. You can paper-piece as little or as much as you want for entirely different looks ..

 Sunshine in Your Soul

  • I stamped the Sunshine In Your Soul image on a piece of lemon patterned paper  and cut it out with a fancy round die.
  • I also stamped it on a piece of yellow paper and fussy-cut the petals. Both images were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Dew Drop ink .
  • I adhered some of the gold petals onto the lemon paper stamped image.
  • A piece of lemon embossed cardstock was adhered to a pale yellow card base.
  • The completed stamped circle was popped up on the card with several foam tabs .

I enjoyed making this card so much that I stamped extra images onto white cardstock, a peachy cardstock and a few yellow patterned papers . Fussy-cutting, pattered papers cut on the diagonal, some coloring and a few rhinestones all came together for a few more colorful cards .

There are 13 new stamps to choose from in this month's release - a wide variety of images and sentiments.. Please take a look at all of them HERE . My code TJ10Deb will save you 10% on all   stamps/supplies. Treat yourself and do some shopping !!

I'd love to know what you think of my cards. Do you like to paper-piece ?? I also like combining different patterns of papers. I'll be back in a few weeks with another card from the June Release.

Until then, Stay Creative !!

Celebrate America | Stamp Once Get Two Cards

Hello, my fellow Junkies!  Michael here with his first post on the Technique Junkies Design Team Blog.  I LOVE July 4th and miss it terribly.  And, I may not get to enjoy fireworks but I do enjoy making cards for July 4th.  And I love getting more bang for my buck.

To make these two cards I used one stamp - the Celebrate America stamp.  I love this stamp but, man, it's a big one!  So I stamped it once on white cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  Then I cut the image in half, giving me two stamps.  There are so many words on this stamp that cutting it in half is easy peasy.

Next, I made my 2 cards.  One card I used a star embossing folder with a piece of blue cardstock, which I adhered to the card front.  Then I layered half my card on red, white and blue cardstock and adhered that to the front.  For my other card, I adhered strips of red, white, and blue cardstock and then I layered the other half - again on red, white, and blue cardstock and then to the card front.  Done!

Done!  Stamp once, cut once, and make two cards.  What do you think of this idea?  I'd love to know.  Leave a comment below.  AND, if you want to save 10% on this stamp or anything else on the website, use my code TJ10Michael.

Stay safe this July 4th.

Summer Flowers Frame

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can be intimidated by large stamps. Emboss them, color them, skip them entirely ??  LOL  But I loved this Summer Flowers Frame stamp from the June Release and was determined to make a card for a friend with it . So I decided to make the stamp a little less intimidating for me and punched out 3 squares from the stamped image . And this is what I came up with !! I'm pretty pleased with the results .. What do you think ?

  • I stamped the Summer Flowers Frame with Tuxedo Black Memento Dew Drop ink on a lined piece of cream paper.
  • Using a 1 3/8" square paper punch, I punched out 3 squares  ( next to each other ) from the stamped image .
  • I then colored the images with my COPICS .
  • Clear Glitter Wink of Stella was added to the centers of each flower .
  • On a piece of pale blue lined patterned paper with the word HELLO in the right lower corner, I stamped a sentiment from the June Release - Flowers Are Like Friends - in Elderberry Memento Dew Drop ink .
  • The completed panel with the sentiment was adhered to a green card base.
  • The 3 completed squares were popped up on the front of the card with a small space in between each one.
Hope this card shows you that you can think outside the box when looking at a larger stamp .. There are so many ways you can interpret a design .. Thanks for stopping by.. You can see all of the new June Release stamps over at Technique Junkies .  And don't forget that today is the last day for 15% off each of the individual stamps in this month's  release. My code TJ10Deb will save you 10% off everything else  ( including the June release starting June 9 )

Until next time, Happy Stamping !!
