Modified Mono Die Valentine

I was so happy when I saw this new little Embosslit in the new Stampin' Up occasions mini catalog. I had already seen this technique and knew this would sweet little scalloped dotted heart would be lovely used in this way. I layered the hearts on a pale pink vellum. The greeting (from Inkadinkadoo) is also stamped on the same pink vellum. The base card is white, the hearts were white and then sponged with pink. The ribbon is pink. I think the overall look is just soft and delicate. I have certainly enjoyed making several different Valentines this year with several of the techniques in the February 2010 issue of the TJ newsletter. I have a few more Valentines to share before Valentine's Day. I hope you are finding the current issue inspiring as you make your own Valentine's Day cards.
Happy creating!

Be My Valentine Darling

Who doesn't like nice downloadable images? Twisted Papers has a very large selection of high quality images, ready to be downloaded immediately.

I fell in love with a risque collage sheets and downloaded a sheet to create scrappy valentine cards.

I must say, I was very impressed when I printed out my image onto white cardstock. I will definately be visiting Twisted Papers regularly.

When I think of scrappy cards, I think big pink or ivory bows, music sheets and downloadable photos, so I gathered those items together and this card is the result of my interpretation of scrappy cards.

Edges of paper were distressed with Tim Holtz's Old Paper distress ink. The buttons came from my collection, and the heart was purchased at the dollar store. Gotta love the dollar stores, eh?!

A big thank you goes out to Twisted Papers for being one of this month's sponsors.

TECHNIQUE BY DESIGN BLOG HOP!

Hello and welcome to the Technique Junkies Technique By Design Challenge Blog Hop.

Technique Junkies is offering you a Sketch Challenge with a twist and we would LOVE for you to participate! All of the details and the sketch are on the Technique Junkies February/March Newsletter!

You can have an opportunity to BECOME A JUNKIE FOR LIFE!
Here is how:

1. Follow the sketch...The sketch uses Six 1-1/2" pieces; three sets of two different technique or cardstock pieces. This is a great way to incorporate technique backgrounds into your cards. Just make sure the colors coordinate and you can mix and match different techniques on your card with a stunning effect! If you make extra backgrounds when trying out the techniques, you will love being able to use them here. Note: in order to qualify for the drawing, at least two different TJ techniques must be used on the card, and one of those two techniques must be used on the squares.
2. Post a link to Pat's Blog
3. The deadline to the challenge is March 15th.

Vada and Judy made several FABULOUS projects using the sketch... here are the details:

To start the Blog Hop Judy created three beautiful cards...

This card uses three techniques: Marker Tapping, Antique Glimmer, and Double Metal Embossing. Judy used a scallop square punch to highlight the three different techniques. All stamps are from Stampin’ Up! Copic markers were used to highlight areas on the hearts and around the edges of the hearts.

Judy created this delightful snowman card for the challenge. The embossed snowman is cut out from card stock embossed with a snowy Cuttlebug embossing folder. She used the Metallic Pop technique over the embossed areas. The other squares – one of which is set off at an angle – was created with the Antique Glimmer technique. Punches were used to create the snowman layers. The snowman was colored with Copic markers. Stamps are from Stampin” up!

Judy did Valentine’s for the Design Team Sketch Challenge. This card uses stamps from Inkadinkadoo and Club Scrap. Judy used dies to create the six squares instead of just using squares. The techniques used to create this cheery card are Antique Glimmer and Metallic Pop. The phone stamp was first inked with Versamark and then in Fired Brick distress ink and then clear embossed.

This gorgeous creation is made by Vada she used the technique called Brayered Brilliance.

Stamp Credits are: Hero Arts, TAC, Inkadinkado and Stampin' Up.

Vada used Spellbinderes dies, Label Eight and Fancy Tags along w/ Martha Stewart Branch punch. Card is 6 x 4 1/2.

Sneak Peek for the February TJ Newsletter

Mono Die Technique Sneak Peek
I just love the beauty and simplicity of this new technique from the February Technique Junkies newsletter. I used a heart die cut from BossKut. The heart has a lovely flourish on one side. I used one of the flourish cut outs as an embellishment underneath the greeting. The stamp for the greeting is from Inkadinakadoo.
I sponged each heart with red ink to highlight the edges. The base card of white card stock and the white mat for the greeting were also sponged with red ink.
Gold glimmer mist spray was spritzed over the hearts before adding the matted greeting. That spritz of gold glimmer mist added an elegant touch to the card.
I hope your Valentine's Day is filled with love!

Sneak Peek - Dabbed Shimmers!

Hello Junkies! I hope you're all doing well today. Here in Mississippi we are in the middle of an ice storm - what better time to play around with ink, paper, and a fantastic new technique?

My card features the Dabbed Shimmers technique, which will be appearing in the February/March newsletter. I had never even heard of Shimmers before I received this assignment. Now I don't think I can live without them! It is always so hard to capture techniques that have any sort of shine or shimmery quality to them....especially when it's dark and dreary outside. Trust me when I tell you that this has an incredibly beautiful glow. You are definitely going to love this technique!

After creating my background, I ran it through the Cuttlebug to give it a little extra dimension. My new stamps from from Artistic Outpost's Birds of a Feather collection were the perfect complement to such a Spring-y color palette.

I can't wait to see what you all create with this wonderful technique!

Valentine Mermaid

My Valentine Mermaid!

I have four little grandchildren - three girls and a boy. This year for their Valentine's cards I am doing something very different for each one. I am making a punched figure as the focal image on each one.

I am not creative to figure out how to use punches create people or animals from punches. Fortunately, there are lots of folks out there who are! The original mermaid was crafted by Hewitt Hulse. I had to change it up to fit my own idea and design but she made the first card i saw with a punches mermaid.

I used that luscious background - an all-time favorite of mine - Antiqued Glimmer! What wonderful water and ocean it made! I used three shades of Distress ink - Weathered Wood, Faded Jeans, and Dusty Concord - and gold glimmer mist.

For my little mermaid's fish scales I used that wonderful shimmery text weight paper you can get from Paper Temptress. The hearts are made from this same kind of paper. The sea weed is punched with a Martha Stewart punch - other wise all of the other punches used are from Stampin' Up! The rhinestone bling is from a craft store. The stamp is from Stampin' Up!

I think my four year old little granddaughter will love her Valentine from Gramma and Poppa! I know I sure had fun making it for her!
