GIve Thanks: Using MISTI to Heat Emboss over your Prismacolor Pencil colored images

Hi everyone.  It's Chris here today, sharing a card made with one of the new October release stamps, Give Thanks.

Today I used Prismacolor pencils on kraft cardstock to create my colored image, and heat embossed in gold after coloring.

To create this card, I used my MISTI stamping tool.  First I stamped the image onto my kraft cardstock panel with kraft ink.  I left my stamp set up in my MISTI so I could restamp after coloring.

I used Prismacolor pencils to color within the kraft stamped lines, taking care to use a good variety of colors and intensity of color so that the contrast would show through after heat embossing.

I tried to create highlights with color since the size of the images would not lend terribly well to just variation of pressure.

Once I was happy with my coloring, I simply reinserted my card panel into the corner of my MISTI and stamped exactly over the kraft ink, using Versamark ink.  I then added gold embossing powder and heated with my pre-heated heat gun.  I love how the gold looks on the pumpkins!  It really highlights this gorgeous image.

The panel was then trimmed using a scalloped die, and added to a charcoal brown card base.

This Give Thanks stamp as well as all of the new October release stamps are still 15% off through October 8th!

Did you get a chance to hop along with us on Sunday and see all the awesome creations using the new October release stamps?  I hope you did and if so, did you grab the 15% discount offered on them?  You have until October 8 to purchase any or all of the new release stamps at 15%.  Just put them in your cart and the calculations are done for you.  No code to enter.  But hurry....

I'm using one of the new stamps in my post today.  It's called "Give Thanks" and what a lovely Thanksgiving card it makes.

I stamped it on kraft cs with VersaMark Ink and then heat embossed it with white ep.  I then sponged some Distress Oxide Inks over it and wiped the ink off the embossing.  Before the sponged inks dried, I sprinkled water over the panel which gave it that bokah look.  I colored the image with Prisma color pencils and then accented with with my Wink of Stella clear pen.  I framed it with a die frame and orange cs that I've had forevah....Such a fun card to create.

To give you more enabling, you can purchase lots of stamps from the Technique Junkies store and get a full 10% off the whole shebang by using my personal code (the new October release is excluded).  So go shopping and have some fun.

I hope you found some inspiration here today.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

See our hop list before for some sweet inspiration from our Design Team!

All of the October 2017 New Release stamps are 15% off through October 8th!
We can all use a little bargain, right? No codes needed, just put them in
your shopping cart and the discount will be applied at checkout.

Here are some projects from Jeanne to get the party started!

My first project uses Textured Stars Background and Most Girls. I used a couple colors directly on the Textured Stars Background stamp and stamped a few times with my MISTI to roughly blend the colors. The girl (Most Girls) was stamped in black and I used a Nuvo Glitter marker on her dress for a little sparkle.

My next project uses Olive Branch Background and Knife in my Purse.
OK.. I really love that sentiment!!!!
I made my background on a Gel Press plate and then stamps
and watercolored the branches and berries.

TJ Inkspiration: Coffee Stain Background with Distress Oxide Inks

It is incredible to me that we are so close to the end of September.  On Sunday, October 1st, we will be celebrating our monthly stamp release with a blog hop, so I hope you will join us for that.

On this Friday, though, I have a short (very short - less than 3 minutes) video showing you how to use Distress Oxide inks and a stencil to create a fun background that mimics coffee cup stains on a piece of wood furniture.

We are only using two stamps for this video:
Coffee Kitty

And on of the sentiments from this set:
Typewriter Set
Coffee Stained Background
This is the simple little card I made using the technique in the video:

Simply Framed - Autumn

And here is the video tutorial:

This card was super easy to put together, here I use one of the sentiments from "Gift of Christmas" set.

  • Stamp the sentiment on the die-cut , then ink all the edges of the little houses with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
  • Adhere panels on a white card base, add a gold snowflake and your card is done!!

Easy peasy, right?

Foiled Pinecone

Hello, Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here with some Autumn splendor using gold foiling.  I have a great kit from Indigo Blu, but any sticky glue and foil will do.

Stamps: Pinecone #SD821 and Autumn Set of 6

Supplies: A Colorful Life's "Square Fade Stencil", Delicata Gold Ink, My Favorite Things Flag Die, Flitter Glu, Tricolor foil, Distress Ink.

I love an interesting background and often just try things to see how they work.  The base layer of cardstock is colored using extra Distress ink I "mopped up" from my craft mat using a baby wipe and pouncing it on card stock.  The next layer is the gorgeous Delicata Gold ink on black card stock using the very detailed Autumn Set of 6 set. For the focal image, I started with more of the mopped up ink then over that I stenciled the Square Fade stencil using a light touch and making sure to heat set.  I then stamped the pine cone using Flitterglu and foiled.

We hope to see you in the Facebook group and participating in our monthly challenge over at the Design Team Blog.

Happy Inking!!
