YOU ARE A HOOT

Hi there, Junkies!!!

I hope you're all doing well.  I've got a super cute card for you today, using the stamp set "You Are A Hoot" from the May 2018 release.  This set has seven stamps and is a real bargain for your collection.  If you'd like to grab it, you can use my discount code TJ10Cheri for a full 10% off this set, plus any an all other stamps you might like.

The process I used to make this card is very simple and a great way to use small stamps.  I first stamped the little owl where I wanted her on my card base.  Then made a mask by die cutting an oval negative in a piece of regular copy paper the size of my card base and in the position that would expose the owl.  I fussy cut a little mask for the owl and covered the stamped image and then sponged through the opening and around the owl mask.

Once the sponging was complete, I colored the owl with Copic Markers and added the sentiment.  A splatter effect was made with dye inks (including the one I used in the bg) which gave it more interest and detail.  I then die cut the panel from a scalloped die and mounted it on a neutral card base.   One more final touch was to use Nuvo Glitter Pen in silver to add some glitz and bling to the splatters.  (A girl's gotta have some glitz and bling, right?).

I hope this inspired you and don't forget to grab my 10% discount if you'd like to purchase any Technique Junkies Stamps in the store.  Just place the discount code in the area marked for it at check out.

Sponge at least two colors of lighter ink on your cardstock. I used Ranger Distress Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron for my project. You can add ink in any pattern you like.

Spread white glue onto your sponged panel. Leave some spaces open. You can make a pattern or just smear it on. I squirted a few lines straight from the bottle and smeared it across my paper with a scrap piece of cardstock.

Once your glue is dry (mine took about an half hour) sponge a darker color over the panel. I used Ranger Distress Wild Honey for my card. Wipe off extra ink.

Using my MISTI Stamp Tool I stamped the sunflower (Sunflower Duo) and colored and cut out. I also stamped the Bless Your Heart sentiment from Butter My Butt (set of 8)

Here's a closer look at my finished card.

Have a great day! Jeanne

Splashes of Pink and Balance

It is Saturday and time for a little balance from the week, let's get some crafting time in with a long-legged bird that looks phenomenal in pink! I'm talking about the new Flamingo stamp from the June release, click here to see all the new stamps.

There is a 10% discount available!
Add code TJ10Janelle during checkout
while shopping at Technique Junkies website!
Shop stamps, stencils, Color Bursts, and Nuvo markers, plus more!

This card was quite simple to make and the dry times were the longest part of the process, but if you're in a hurry, you can use a heat tool, mini fan or your hair dryer to speed up the dry time.

Supplies:
Instructions:
  1. Make pink paint resist with a small drop of Fuschia Color Burst mixed in white craft paint.
  2. Dab the paint through the Circle Make Circles stencil on the front of a white cardstock folded in half for a card base. This will be a resist for the next step
  3. Paint Turquoise Color Burst that is diluted with water in a loose side-to-side motion over the dry stenciled card base. Try to only do this in one pass across the paper otherwise it may seep under the pink paint resist and muddy the design. Set aside to dry.
  4. Stamp Flamingo and Balance on One Leg with black ink onto 4 by 5-1/4 inch white cardstock or watercolor paper.
  5. Dilute Fuschia Color Burst with water and color flamingo. Use diluted turquoise to paint water at the feet of the flamingo.
  6. Once dry, doodle a border with a black pen.
  7. Glue onto stenciled card base!
Thank you for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

Second, we have a fun video tutorial using Distress Oxide Inks and stamps to create an Ombre background. It is super-easy and fun too.

Happy Father's Day

Hello friends! Hope you are having a fantastic day!
Today, I want to share with you a super simple Father's Day card!

For this project I used the new "Anchors Background" and "Happy Father's Day" stamps.

Details:
  • Start stamping the "Anchors Background" on a piece of white cardstock in Blue Ink, then wipe your stamp and ink it up with Versamark Watermark Ink on top, then add Clear Embossing powder and heat set. Your MISTI is a great tool to do the perfect stamping.
  • After that, apply Broken China Distress Ink all over the image. Trim image, I did 3.75" x 5"
  • Stamp "Happy Father's Day" sentiment on a piece of white cardstock. Adhere it to background piece.
  • Adhere panel to a white card base. Tie twine around the sentiment.
  • Add a stamped or die-cut anchor.
You have until tomorrow to take advantage of the 15% off discount on our June Release, no code needed.
If you want to get an extra discount to the sentiment, you can use my TJ10Giovana code

Hope you like this project.
Have an amazing day!

Old Friends on Designer Papers

One of my favorite techniques is stamping on designer paper.  I thought it would be fun to see the different looks I could achieve with the wonderful photo-realistic Technique Junkies Old Friends stamp.

Remember, if you go shopping at Technique Junkies, use my discount code TJ10Stephanie at checkout for 10% off your purchase.

I searched through my designer paper scraps for a selection of papers to try.  I started with this teal marbled paper and Versafine CLAIR Warm Breeze Ink.

One key to remember (especially when using a stamp with faces) is to make sure there aren't patterned elements that obscure the faces.  I positioned this image so that the faces were in the white portion of the marbling.

You could also add color to the boat or swimsuits, but I chose to go with a monochromatic design for each card, so you could see the different effects I achieved with just a single color of ink.

For this one I used VersaFine CLAIR Acorn Ink on a piece of Birch Bark designer paper.

And my final one used Chianti VersaFine CLAIR ink on a piece of pink patterned paper.

I will warn you, once you start playing with different inks and paper scraps, it can get quite addictive ... so fun to see what you get with the different combinations.

Now to go put these in the mail to some of my dearest friends across the miles (you know you've got friends who would love to receive some mail from you ... go mail those cards).
