How to Create with Metallic Shimmering Bliss

Hi it's Beth Norman-Roberts with a tutorial for you today.

Can you believe that I didn't use metallic paper on my card?  Instead I used Technique Junkies metallic Shimmering Bliss.  You can receive these gorgeous sprays or any other product at 10% off simply by using the code TJ10Beth.  It's that simple.

The stamp I used is called Dream Big.  It is a large stamp so I cut it in half and used the bottom portion of the stamp which I gold embossed on black cardstock.

The cost of purchasing metallic paper is expensive so when Pat offered metallic Shimmering Bliss, I got a hold of them.  Here I used Golden Olive, Silver, Smoldering Ash, and Chestnut Mare.

You may be interested to hear that Pat is offering bundles now, so check them out.

Now on to my tutorial...
Spray your cardstock with the colours I listed (you can use any colour of Shimmering Bliss for a different look).  Let dry completely.

Emboss your dried cardstock.
I wanted a masculine-looking card so I picked out masculine embossing folders.
Cut into a variety of shapes as seen here.
Using your unembossed background lay it flat and arrange your embossed pieces of cardstock, leaving space between your cardstock to represent grout.  I used my ATG gun to adhere the cardstock.  You can also lightly use glue to attach your cardstock to your background as well.
Once you have your card covered you may chose to mat your background.

I hope I inspired you to pull out your Shimmering Bliss.

Now for the card I wanted to share with you.  It's only 80 days until Christmas and it will be here before we know it. Our October release has so many fabulous sets for your holiday card making. To create my card I started with a top folding kraft card base, a panel of red card stock cut down a quarter of an inch smaller and then a watercolor panel. I used this gorgeous Wreath Sled stamp and stamped it on watercolor paper and colored it using Daniel Smith Watercolors

Joyeux Noel

Have you hopped yet?  Technique Junkies' October Release Blog Hop is well under way.  Be sure to check out the inspiration of the Design Team, using the awesome new stamps.

My card for today....
Stamps:
Technique Junkies Season's Greetings Set of 6 (new)
Technique Junkies Vintage Merry Christmas (new)
Technique Junkies Joyeux Noel (previous)

I stamped the fir branches from the Season's Greetings set onto a cream A2 card front.  I used my Misti, and inked it with various greens from the Tim Holtz distress mini ink pads.  I repeated this until I got the look I wanted.
I also stamped off on scrap paper for some of the branches, then onto the card, so they appear to be in the background.  I used a Clarity stencil brush to brush on some green to soften the card.

For the gold on the branches, I used my Dove blending tool to add lines here and there, then embossed them with gold.  I also embossed the verse with gold embossing powder.

For the ornaments, I stamped and embossed the ornaments from the Vintage Merry Christmas stamp onto watercolor paper.  I painted them with Shimmering Bliss sprays.  I just removed the top, and used the applicator to put some drops of ink onto a palette, then painted the ornaments.  The SB adds shimmer and shine to the ornaments, which is so pretty in real life!

I fussy-cut the ornaments, and added them to the card with foam tape for dimension.  Then I used a gold gel pen to draw the gold threads to hang them from the branches.

I used my gold leafing pen to draw a gold narrow stripe down the right side of the card, and added some gems.

That's it.  Easy-peasy.

Don't forget, all new release stamps are 15% off until October 8th.   Be sure to use my code, TJ10Lynda, at the checkout, and get 10% off non-release items, as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Blessings,

Black + Gold = Stunning Christmas Card

Hi, everybody! Toodle Noodle Ro is in the house. So, are you ready for Christmas? No? Me either. But I'm making a start on my Christmas cards, so that's something at least! The one I have for you today is so striking (in my humble opinion) that I may just make more with different backgrounds. I am loving the color combination!

IRL, the background just jumps out at you and looks so very elegant. Here is a closeup that hopefully shows a little better glimpse of the shine.

I started out by creating an A2 card from black CS. On a piece of gold CS, I stamped the holly and berries using the set Seasons Greetings Set of 6 (SS097) with Versamark Ink. I then heat embossed with gold EP. This piece was then trimmed down and attached to the card base.

On a black piece of CS, I stamped the greeting from that same set, again with Versamark and gold EP. I trimmed that panel down and attached it to the card base with some gold brads.

All-in-all, this was actually a very quick card to make. I plan to make several with different backgrounds for some special folks at Christmas.

Hope you got some ideas and inspiration today. And remember...this set is on special (15% off) until the 8th of this month (along with some other great new releases!). There are six beautiful stamps in this set. And for everything else, please use my special code to save 10%!

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!
