WWDB Week 4 - Card #4 - Taking Time to Do Nothing

I used the stamp Perspective on both the card and the envelope. It is heat embossed on the card.  I sponge the grass.  I used a home made cloud stencil on the background and a store bought one around the girl on the swing.  I bought that stencil moe than 20 years ago.  To create the background I used the Dragon Skin stencil from A Colorful Life Designs Stencils.  I sprayed Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss on the background.  Then I used the homemade cloud stencil and a light blue ink to add the cloud depth to the background.    I added a few star sequins to the darkest part of the sky.

The verse on the inside of the card comes from the set Sentimental Sayings.   Save 10% using the code TJ10Judy when you check out.

Have wonderful smiley day and get inky.

WWDB Amazing Birds in Oxides

Good morning, Junkies!  It's Holly posting today, and I'm sharing this pastel creation that I made for this week's WWDB (What We Do Best) challenge.  This week we are making encouragement cards for the challenge, and the sentiments in the Modern Encouragements set are perfect for this.

I started by inking up the Bird and Letter Collage stamp with three different colors of Distress Oxide inks.  You have to be a little brave and not worry about getting other colors on your ink pads when you do this.  I just randomly dabbed some pink here, then some blue there and some green (actually Old Paper) there.  Some of the colors did cross over and get onto the ink pads, but I don't mind.  I figure I can always reink them if they get too muddy.  While I had the Bird and Letter Collage stamp out, I inked it up again with the Old Paper Distress Oxide ink and pressed it an angle onto my envelope.

Since the image looked a little aged, I thought it would be nice to add some soft beige sponging around the piece.  I sponged some Antique Linen Oxide on first, and then some Walnut Stain Oxide.  The sentiment from the Modern Encouragements set was stamped with Pinecone Versafine Clair ink and I inked the edges of the paper with the Pinecone ink.  Then I pulled out my distress tool (remember those??) and roughed up the edges for that aged, distressed look.

Come play along in our #WWDB challenge over on the Technique Junkies Facebook page.  Just made an encouragement card using Technique Junkies stamps and decorate an envelope to go with it.  Use the hashtag #WWDB so we can find your card.  You could win $50 from Technique Junkies just for playing along!

Next, our third week of the TJ WWDB challenge was another fun week!  Our theme for week 3 was Thinking of You Cards. We again had great participation from both customers and the Technique Junkies Design Team. The video below displays all the compiled artwork from the week. I hope you are inspired to create some Thinking of You cards of your own.

This week, all customer entrants were "put into a hat" and one name was drawn randomly to win the $50.00 gift certificate to the Technique Junkies store! This week, our winner is...
April Cassidy!
April created great cards this week within the Thinking of you theme. April, watch your email for your gift certificate.

Week Four is upon us, so our theme this week is to make Encouragement cards.  This theme is open to a pretty wide interpretation - I can't wait to see what you make with Technique Junkies Stamps within the theme. Don't forget the envelope!

To get us jump-started, here is the first card of the week, from me:
Shoot for the Moon

Today's card uses the brand new Shoot for the Moon focal image stamp with the previously released Star Stream stamp in the background.

Here is an overview of the challenge again:
Our challenge will run for four weeks, with each of the four weeks featuring a different theme. Each week, you can make one or more cards with envelopes using Technique Junkies stamps within a weekly theme. Simply post them to the Technique Junkies FaceBook group OR email them directly to me.

Each week, one of the challenge cards will be selected RANDOMLY and will win a $50.00 gift certificate to the Technique Junkies online store!

That is $50.00 PER WEEK that we will be giving away with this challenge!

Here are the "rules" and the themes:
1. Create a card using Technique Junkies Stamps or Foils. Please, no other companies' stamps on your creations. Dies, stencils and other embellishments are welcomed, but kindly remember that it is a company-sponsored challenge.
2. You must include a decorated envelope with your card entry.
3. Email your card to phuntoon@optonline.net OR post to the Technique Junkies Facebook Group with the following hashtag: #WWDB.
4. You may post a different card every day. Cards that have been posted to the Technique Junkies FaceBook group prior to the start of the challenge may not be used in this challenge. Each card posted must be made by the poster and only be posted once during the contest.
5. One submitted entry (card) will be selected randomly at the end of the week, and a $50.00 gift certificate winner will be announced on this email and to the FaceBook group on the following Friday.

Here is the final theme:
Week Four 5/8 - 5/14 Encouragement card:
Pretty broad spectrum here - but inspiration, thinking of you, thank you, all encompassed here, too. Again, an envelope is necessary.

I can't wait to see what you make!
I hope you are a little inkspired by today's issue. See you next week!

Sincerely,

Shoot me to the Moon

Hi there technique junkies!  How about that new release, eh?  Another wonderful one.  Today I'm showcasing Shoot for the Moon, which you can still get at 15% off and if you used TJ10Beth, you get an extra 10% off.  That's quite a deal.

To make my card, I embossed gold onto Navy cardstock.  Then, I stamped out my image onto white cardstock, coloured up the flower and moon, cut it out, then glued it over top of my embossed image.  To give it dimension (isn't that what we're all doing these days?), I added pearls to the swagged loop hanging from the moon.

I was torn between using gold or silver embossing powder, so I did both.  This time I added mini pearls to my swag and around the sky.

Which colour is your favourite?

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day, and get creative!
