Mrs. Santa's List With Baubles

Hello Junkies!!! 

Cheri Weston here and I'm very excited to be posting my very first blog post as a Technique Junkie Design Team Member.  Yay!!!!  I feel so fortunate to be part of such an amazingly talented group....I'm still pinching myself.  

For my first blog post, I made an easy card to reproduce.  If you like to color (and I do), the focal image called "Mrs. Santa's List" is right up your alley.  I colored her with Copic Markers and used a little Viva Glitter Pen to give her collar and earring some bling, then framed her using Spellbinder Classic Oval dies. For the background I used a new background stamp called "Baubles" was so easy to do by heat embossing in Silver embossing powder.  Both stamps are from the October 2016 Release.  To finish it off, I "framed" the background layer using "Wonky Stitch" Die by Avery Elle and popped Mrs. Santa up off the bg layer using dimensional tape.

Metallic Graduated Star Book Holiday Decoration

Hello Everyone,
Karen McAlpine with you today to share a Holiday project.  Although it is only Fall and we are thinking about Halloween and Thanksgiving cards, I have been making Christmas projects this month. Trying to get a bit of a head start this year.  Today's project is made with a gorgeous October New Release from Technique Junkies.  This what the stamp looks like.

When I first saw that stamp, I thought silver embossing and then decoration or ornament.  Putting on the old thinking cap, I decided on the  Graduated Star Book (tutorial is from the Fancy Folds and Motion CD from Technique Junkies)

Materials List:

Stamp: Stars Are Brightly Shining from Technique Junkies

Ink: Versa Mark

Silver Embossing Powder

CS: white, dark green

DP: DCWV and Anna Griffin metallic papers

Green Ribbon

Green Stickles

Snowflake Punch

Tree Edge Punch

Happy and Christmas Words die cuts

Fancy Folds and Motion CD from Technique Junkies

Following the Graduated Star Book Tutorial I constructed the book.  I omitted the instructions for punching in the top layer.

Cover: Back
The book looks like this when it is closed and tied shut with ribbon.

Make It:

• Follow the instructions on the tutorial to construct the book using white CS for the pagers and metallic papers for the second layer 
• On white CS, stamp the Stars are Brightly Shining Stamp with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with silver embossing powder - make 3
• Cut the stamped image in half
• Add the stamped pieces to the pages

• Punch strips of dark green CS with the edge punch and glue to the edges of each page
• Punch 14 snowflakes from metallic papers and add to the pages
• Add glitter glue to the snow flakes

• Die cut the words Happy and Christmas from green CS and add to the front and back covers
• Glue long pieces of ribbon- one to the back and one to the front cover.  The ribbon will be  used to tie the book closed
• Embellish covers with punched snowflakes, glitter glue and ribbon bows --Glue bows over the ends of the long ribbon pieces

This lovely star book could be hung or placed on a table for a pretty Holiday decoration.  It would also be a super nice card for an extra special person.  The stamp can also be used to make gorgeous cards.  Be sure to check out all the fabulous new release stamps here.

Red or White.... Hic....

Hello Junkies!!

The Crafty Nurse here today with a bright and festive card featuring one of Pat's October release stamps called "Red or White Christmas #SD750".

The background was created using the Pasted Resist Technique from the Sensational Stencil CD. I began with the Tim Holtz Poinsettia stencil and embossing paste.  After that was dried, I sprayed with Red Pepper Color Wash Spray.  Then over that I lightly spritzed Dylusions White Linen Spray. This combination of colors is really vibrant and perfect for a holiday red. I also spritzed the white Dylusions over my black card stock for more texture. My card base is a very deep olive green and looks really great against that stunning red.

Naughty and Nice!

Greetings Inky Friends!!

Today I'm sharing a fun technique using Distress Stains and a Shimmer Spray.

I began by adding stains directly to my background stamp.

I "activated" the stains using the Dylusions Mica spray which has a shimmer in it.

I was afraid that color would over power the stains, but it did not! I would suggest a translucent shimmer spray but I did not have one available at the time of creating :)

I then took some Distress ink and sponged around the Swaths of Texture background piece.

My focal image uses one of the New October Releases called Mrs. Santas List. 

I colored her using Distress Markers and the green piece used behind her was a

scrap left over I had from another project.

Of course I had to add some more shimmer so I added glitter to her santa hat.

I love the vibrant and retro feel of this card. One of my favorites yet!

A Naughty but Nice card

Well it may be October and I am decorating my house for Halloween.... But my craft room is all ready starting to look like Christmas! So with the count down on for Halloween I thought I would share a sassy little Christmas card with you.

Featuring a one of this months new releases....

Joyeux Noel!

I have been having fun with the Art Anthology Coloration sprays this month!   They were sprayed on a white sheet of card stock.  I used Technique Junkies Father Christmas - http://techniquejunkies.com/father-christmas/ - as my focal image and the newly released Technique Junkie stamp called Joyeux Noel - http://techniquejunkies.com/joyeux-noel/__. 

I stamped Father Christmas in a medium brown ink.  I used a gold Wink of Stella pen to highlight different areas in the stamped image.  Lot of card stock layers - including a text weight gold card stock - and a ruffled ribbon at the bottom of Father Christmas help to make the card unique and rather simple to complete.  I used three different punches for the embellishment.  I first stamped the greeting with black Versafine ink, covered with detail black embossing powder, and heat set. Then i punched out the saying making sure I had most of the image.  Then I punch a layer of gold text weight card stock, and a circle of the green color.  It is popped up on the right side with dimensionals, and the left is only adhered with two sided tape.
