God bless America

Hello friends, Giovana here today, bringing you a very American card. When I saw these banners I knew I needed them for my 4th of July cards, this is one of a set I am making. Super easy and mail friendly.

Here are the details:
  • Start cutting a piece of watercolor paper (here size 3.75" x 5"), add a little bit of Ultramarine Blue Color Burst and then mist the paper to release the colors.
  •  On a piece of watercolor paper, stamp the banner from "Pennant Set #4" in red and blue ink.
  •  After your blue watercolor piece has dried, cut a small piece of vellum and stitch it to the panel.
  •  Fussy cut the banners and add blue twine to connect them together. Stamp the "God bless America Pennant" sentiment on a piece of red cardstock, add thin gold adhesive tape and add it to card with foam adhesive. Add the panel to a A2 cad base.

Here is the card standing up. Very simple and elegant.

Hope you like it and give it a try. Remember you can buy these stamps using my code TJ10Giovana for a 10% off of you purchase!!

Mightier than Waves

Today I used the newly released Technique Junkies Let your Light Shine stamp http://techniquejunkies.com/let-your-light-shine/   to create my card.  used one of the  wonderful  A Colorful Life stencils - http://techniquejunkies.com/search.php?search_query=A+colorful+life+stencils  -  along with the gold Nuvo Mouse - http://techniquejunkies.com/nuvo-products/  to create the background for the focal image.
\
I  used the Twinkling H2Os to paint the focal image.  I wanted to use a different verse than the verse that is a part of this stamp. So I was very careful to not get any Memento ink on the verse.  However, the "S" that is a part of the verse is also a part of the lighthouse and I had to decide how I was going to treat that "S."  I painted it gold and added a gold ribbon bow.

Then I stamped the verse from the Psalms of the Seat set - http://techniquejunkies.com/psalms-of-the-sea-set-of-6/ with Versafine black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

A burlap ribbon over layed with the matching ribbon finish my card.

Please remember that you can get a 10% discount by using the code TJ10Judy on your order.  Distress Oxide inks excluded from this discount as they are already discounted.

Have a great day and get inky!

Beautiful and Magical Creatures.

Hello everyone, Chris here, sharing a few more projects made with the new Technique Junkies June stamps!  Did you shop yet?  There's still time to get your hands on these fun new stamps!

I'm sharing two projects which highlight two new creature stamps from the Technique Junkies release:  Turtles and Hummingbirds.  Both of which fascinate me in real life.  They are both such majestic creatures.

This card features Swirl Turtle and Advice from a Sea Turtle with an embossed resist technique background and Distress Oxide inks.

This card features the new Watercolor Hummingbird which is watercolored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and cut out and adhered to a panel ink sponged with the Grunge Dots Stencil. The sentiment is Always Find a Song.

Make sure you check out all the new June release stamps at Technique Junkies!

Until next time,
Chris

White on Kraft

One of my favorite looks is using white pencils on kraft paper. Today's project features the Dogwood Blossom done on kraft paper.

To begin with, I stamped the image on kraft cardstock with Memento Ink (Pear Tart). Then using the Chameleon Colortone Pencils (a new product at TJ!), I colored in the flowers with white, green and yellow tones.  A rub-on sentiment was added.

The panel was then trimmed down and foam taped to a kraft card base.

This simple technique is fun to do and leaves you with a stunning finished project! Hope you are inspired to give it a try. If you would like to save 10% on your purchases at TJ, simply use the code below.
Hope you have a wonderful craft-filled day.

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!

HAT'S OFF TO DAD

Hellooooo Junkies!!!!!

This Sunday we'll be celebrating Father's Day here in the States.  There are some really great male stamps in the store at Technique Junkies and today I'm playing with one of the most recent ones called "Hats Off to Dad" from the May release.

Truth be told...this set doesn't just cover Father's Day, it could be a birthday, or any occasion where you might want to honor a father.  Let your imagination go wild.  It's really a fun set. I did some surgery on the set I have and cut all the hats off into individual pieces.  I can always reassemble them if I want to, but I like the idea that I can use these hats in many other ways individually.

In addition to the Hat's Off set on this card, I used a cool stencil from A Colorful Life Stencils called "City Windows".  I placed the stencil on a white cs layer and sponged Distress Inks.  First, Fresh Squeezed Lemon and then on just the base of the "windows",  Mustard Seed for some shadow and contrast.  I then stamped each hat in one of the windows with Archival black ink.  For additional detail I added little "stitch" marks around each one with my ultra-fine Sharpie black pen.  Finally, I added some sparkle with my Wink of Stella pen to each hat.  The sentiment, stamped with Archival black and heat embossed with clear ep, was die cut with a rectangle die and frame set.

For this card, I also used "Here We Go Round in Circles" to build my bg.  I used a variety of colored dye inks I have for the colored dots.  After stamping the hats "floating" with Archival black in, I sprinkled clear ep over them and heat embossed.  Giving them a little added dimension.  The sentiment was also stamped and heat embossed the same way.  I cut a piece of dp, to accent the die fin cut over the sentiment piece, and, I added faux stitching in both white and black along the edges.

So, that's it for me today.  I hope you find some inspiration and get your craft on....it's fun there!
