Land ( and Recipes ) That I Love

Deb here with a few cards to get you in the mood for summer get-togethers and  the good food that goes along with them !! My first thought when I saw this Land That I Love stamp from the June Release was to stamp it or die-cut it and use it on a map background. But then I decided I wanted to try for something a little different. When I started thinking, I began to remember growing up in Pennsylvania , family picnics and the wonderful foods we would all bring to share . That transitioned to the "land that I love" now - Virginia and the South -  and some amazing new dishes that have also become favorites. And this idea was born !!

  • I found 2 recipes that I love in an old cookbook, tore them out and cut them down to fit on 5x7 Kraft card bases .
  • I wrote the recipes down to include with these cards before stamping/adhering anything on the recipe.
  • I stamped the USA images with Lady Bug and Nautical Blue Memento Dew Drop inks.
  • I also stamped the new June Release Celebrate America on blue paper with Nautical Blue ink  and cut strips to use like washi tape.
  • Nautical strips of paper were adhered on the recipes .
  • Glitter starts were placed on each card also.
  • Each completed recipe was adhered to the Kraft card base .

I can't help but think that my mom would have loved these cards !! I definitely would have made her one with her famous Macaroni salad recipe on it .. Or Apple Pie, one of her favorites. Here are a few more cards I made with this layout .

Sweet-Potato Streusel Pie

It Ain’t Yers!

Sometimes you need comic relief…for lots of reasons!
If you look closely at the black and white pattern on the card base - all I did was draw the same spots on my card that I saw on the cow, only larger. I drew them with a pencil then filled in with a black marker.
After that I simply stamped and colored the image then matted on black and pink card stock.

Friends are Flowers

 Hello,

It is finally feeling like SUMMER here in New York. !  It is my favorite season.  I love swimming, playing outside with the kids,  the warm and long days that end in beautiful sunsets.   I hope I can capture the magic of summer in my cards.

We have been having a drought and the flowers are not growing really well in Upstate NY,  so I decided to create my own garden.

I hope you all enjoy!

Patriotic Cards Celebrating the USA

Hello, Jeanette here. I have two patriotic cards to share today, just in time for the 4th of July. These cards feature two stamps from this month's new release.

Celebrate America:

Such a versatile background stamp - you can also separate the sayings for sentiments on cards or use just part of the stamped image, as Michael showed us earlier this month.

I heat embossed with white embossing powder and then blended on the blue and red inks.

Land that I Love:

This stamp is amazing!

The flag in the background was created with designer papers.

Two Times a Pirate and Two Times a Whole Mermaid

Hi everyone.  Design Team Member Michael here.  Again.  With another "one stamp/two cards" idea for you.  So, I have this rule...if I can't look at a stamp and think of at least 2 or more ideas, it's not worth buying it.  So, when I saw this Pirate or Mermaid stamp in the June 2023 Release, I thought, pirate card and mermaid card.  Perfect!

For my pirate card, I stamped Pirate or Mermaid on a piece of white cardstock and layered it on a piece of black cardstock.  I applied some white glue to the mermaid tail and then covered it with irridescent blue/greenish glitter, removed the excess, and set it aside to dry.  I made an A2 card and adhered some pirate paper to the front (sorry, a Brasilian brand) and then, once the mermaid was dry, I adhered it to my card front.

For my 2nd card idea, I stamped Pirate or Mermaid on a piece of white cardstock, which I trimmed and layered on a piece of dark purple cardstock.  I added wet glue to her tail, like in the first card, and then added the blue/greenish iridescent glitter.  I removed the excess and set it aside to fully dry.

Next, I stamped Fading Sea Scales, which is also part of the June 2023 Release, on a piece of light purple cardstock.  It has a bit of watercolor hue to it and looks perfect with the mermaid scales and the darker purple.  I die-cut it using a stitched rectangle die and then I applied wet glue to the edge of each of the scales and added blue/greenish iridescent glitter to them.  I removed the excess and set it aside to dry.

While they were drying, I made an A2 card using white cardstock, die-cut a piece of the dark purple cardstock with another stitched rectangle die, and adhered it to the card front.   Once everything was dry, I adhered the light purple with the Fading Sea Scales to the card front and then I adhered the Pirate or Mermaid to the center.

Again, two cards using one main focal stamp.  What do you think of this idea to get 2 cards using one main stamp?  I'd love to know.  Leave a comment below and let me know.  Also, if you love my ideas and want to get these stamps, or anything else on the Technique Junkies website, use my code TJ10Michael to get 10% off your purchase!

Until next time...hugs from Brasil.

A Zen Pirate or Mermaid?

Good morning! Am I the only one that thinks it’s crazy that June is coming to a close soon?
For my creation, I used our new Pirate or Mermaid stamp. I stamped, colored and then used a bookmark die cut to cut it out. Next, I added a bit of embroidery thread. The background was done with the Flowing Zen background stamp. A few dew drops added and we will call it good.
