Technique Junkies 30 Days of Christmas-Day 15

Happy Thursday Junkies!

Jerri here from a bushel and a hug to share a Christmas Tag I made for Day 15!

Christmas Trees Set of 6 is one of my favorite stamp sets.  This set is so versatile.  To make this tag, I began by using some of the Tim Holtz metallic stain. I smeared the stain all over the tag and then spritzed it with some water.  Once the tag was dry I stamped my trees.  I stamped the trees in the background on a piece of scrap paper first and then stamped again on the tag without re-inking. This gives a lighter stamp and for this purpose makes it seem as though there are trees in the background.  I used a stiff paint brush and some thinned down, white paint to spritz white spots all over the top.  I used a gray stamp pad to rub along the edges and a bow to finish it off.

Make sure you check out the Design Team Blog to get tons of Christmas inspiration.

Have a fantastic day

30 Days of Christmas - Day 14

Hello Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here celebrating the 30 Days Of Christmas here on the Design Team Blog.  I am absolutely in love with the "Christmas Dove" stamp and couldn't resist using it again for my Day 14 post.  If you didn't see my first dove, check out my personal blog.

To create the card I used the Rubbed Gelato's Technique from the Artistic Effects CD.  This begins by stamping "Christmas Dove" on watercolor paper and heat embossing with white powder.  I then applied the Rubbed Gelato Technique and created a shaker card for some fun.  The silver frame is a My Favorite Things die.  To create some additional visual interest, I stamped one of the many fabulous Snowflakes stamps on the card edges then finished with the "Merry Christmas 2" sentiment.

We would love for you to keep following the Design Team Blog for more Christmas ideas using the Technique Junkies stamps.  There is only a few days left to grab the Christmas stamps at 20% off through October 31st.

By for now,

The Crafty Nurse

30 Days of Christmas - Day 12

Hi, it's Gini and I am here today to share with you my first take on the 30 Days of Christmas Cards! I love kraft and gold together, and thought that the Folk Art Angel would be great to use with this color scheme. I dry embossed the background and heat embossed the angel. The sentiment, Merry Christmas 2, was stamped on the kraft paper.  And what is Christmas without a big festive bow?

We will have more ways to inspire you for your Christmas season, so check back everyday between now and the 15th of November!

The 30 Days of Christmas, Day 11

Hello Junkies , Pam here today to welcome you  to the 30 Days of Christmas with Technique Junkies - Day 11.  The holiday season is fast approaching so we are sharing some fantastic inspiration for your holiday cards from Oct 15-Nov 13! So be sure to stay tuned here and on the Design Team members blogs for new projects EVERY DAY!

For my holiday inspiration card I used the Ornament 1 stamp (SD640) to create a background for this simple yet elegant Christmas card.  It also features the Merry Christmas 2 stamp as the sentiment!

The ornament stamp has such great detail to it and it just looks gorgeous stamped with Versamark Ink and embossed using Ranger Queen's Gold embossing powder. They just come to life!  I decided to go with a monochromatic piece and use ink sprays for the background and highlight the ornaments themselves with a little bit of darker red water color.

I hope you are enjoying our fab 30 days of Christmas inspiration!
Embrace imperfection!

The 30 Days of Christmas, Day 10

Hello!  It's Robin Redd here with you today.
Welcome to day 10 of The 30 Days of Christmas.
I made a simple Christmas card, for you, that has a ton of Christmas PUNCH!

With this stamped I used the tone on tone method to stamp the background.
This simply means I stamped it with a stamp pad that is close to the color of the paper
you are stamping it on.

To make the trees, simply cut triangles from your choice of cardstock or paper.
You can use ANY (well, just about) embossing folder you have on hand to 'decorate' your trees.

Until next time...

30 Days of Christmas, Day 8

Welcome back to the 30 Days of Christmas! Today is Day 8 and I am pleased to use two of the new stamps from this year's Technique Junkies holiday release. The base of this stamp is the Winter Wonderland Stamp. I colored the top of this stamp with Stormy Sky Distress Ink, and the bottom of the stamp with Iced Spruce Distress Ink using the Direct-to-Stamp method. For texture, there is a dot of Stickles on each of the top snowflakes, and painted Bone Stone Effects Dimensional Medium (Art Anthology) over the snowy areas.

To add more dimension, I re-inked the bottom of the stamp with Iced Spruce ink again and stamped on a second piece of paper. I cut out a few trees and popped them on the base piece:

To finish the card, I used the Winter Wonderland Sayings (Set of 3) along the top, creating banners for each of the words.  I love that I can make these non-denominational, like the card above, or straight-out Christmas Cards by using the Merry Christmas Greeting from the same set.

Until tomorrow--

30 Days of Christmas, Day 7

Good morning, Junkies and welcome to Day 7 of the 30 Days of Christmas inspiration. We will be bringing you creative holiday inspiration during October and into November. Today, for your viewing pleasure, I've created a Christmas card with an unexpected background.
Using the P002 Bricks, Dark and P003 Bricks, Light background stamps with Stazon Midi ink in reds (St. Valentine and Claret, respectively), I created this background. I then sprayed the card with Sandcastle Colorations from Art Anthology to fill in the 'mortar' with the cream color. I wrote a bit of the poem from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas" in the mortar lines with a red pen. It says, "And laying his finger aside of his nose and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose."

The sentiment is from the newly released SS046 Winter Wonderland Sayings sentiments stamp set, which I layered with cardstock to fit right inside a 'brick'.

A nice card for the men in your life, for a new home owner or the brick masons!

Remember that all of the Christmas stamps, including the one used here, are 20% off on www.techniquejunkies.com by using the work Christmas at checkout. I don't think it applies to the Bricks, but you can always contact Pat if you'd like to recreate this card for your Christmas cards!

Until then, be merry!

30 Days of Christmas, Day 6

Good morning Junkies and welcome to Day 6 of the 30 Days of Christmas.  We will be bringing you 30 Days of Christmas joy and inspiration during October and into November.  Today, for your viewing pleasure, I've created a 2-page journal spread.

I used several of Technique Junkies Christmas stamps to create this two-page spread.

For the left side, I stamped Star Power with metallic silver ink until the entire page was covered.  I then embossed the stars using silver embossing powder.  Once the embossing powder cooled, I sprayed Art Anthology Timeless and Silk Tie Colorations, blotting between applications until I had the color I was going for.  Since the embossing resists the sprays, all I had to do was wipe over them with a baby wipe.  I then stamped Hope and Peace from the Christmas Word Set of 4 with Deep Rose ink, cut them out, and applied them to my page.  I then sprinkled snowflake confetti all over.

For the right side, I stamped Star Power over half the page with metallic silver ink and then embossed with silver embossing powder.  I again sprayed with Art Anthology Timeless and Silk Tie Colorations, this time concentrating Timeless near the bottom of the page to simulate sunset.  I stamped Whimsical Winter twice: once using Sooty Blue ink for the bottom and the second time using Dusty Lime for the trees.  I cut them out and added them to my page.  To simulate snow, I ran a line of Frosted Lace Stickles along the bottoms of each of the trees' sections and then I scattered more snow confetti across the page.  Finally, I edged both pages using a red Sharpie.

I hope you enjoy this spread and that it gets you in the mood for Christmas.

Until later...............

30 Days of Christmas, Day 5 - by Judy Jackson

Perhaps by now, you are noticing that the Technique Junkie Design Team members are showing lots of Christmas cards!  Christmas is a wonderful season with many celebrations.

My card today features the Technique Junkie Stamps Merry Christmas stamp - http://techniquejunkies.com/merry-christmas/ .  I used pieces of background paper discontinued several years ago. But it goes with this stamp perfectly!

I embossed the image with Detail Gold embossing powder.  Then I colored in the letters carefully with a deep green Copic marker.  I added some red rhinestones for bling. Then I cut out some layers with Spellbinder dies.  I edged two layers with a Krylon gold pen.  And I was done!

How are you coming on your Christmas cards?    In my reorganization of my stamping supplies, I found a lot of Christmas cards from previous years.   So I am going to use those to save me some time this year. I will still need tomake about 20 or 30 more cards.

Have a really fun stamping day!

30 Days of Christmas, Day 4!

What says Christmas Sweets more than Peppermint Swirl?
That swirl is what we are featuring today for out 30 Days of Christmas Card. This card uses the new Peppermint Swirl Background Stamp with the Merry Christmas Sentiment for your creative inspiration.

To make this card, the Peppermint Swirl image was stamped with VersaMark, then covered with Stamp and Stick Powder, and heat embossed. Red glitter was burnished and heated into it to set it. The sentiment was colored with markers and a gold glitter pen before being layered onto the Peppermint Swirl and the background cardstock layers.

Remember that all of the Christmas stamps, including the two used here, are 20% off on www.techniquejunkies.com by using the work Christmas at checkout.
Enjoy your day!

30 Days of Christmas, Day 3

Welcome to Day 3 of the 30 Days of Christmas! Today I have a card that uses two of the new Christmas Stamps this year, Winter Foliage and Merry Christmas 2.

To create this card, I stamped the Winter Foliage stamp on White Vellum, and heat embossed it with a pearlized white embossing powder. Then, working on the back side of the vellum (the non-embossed side), I colored the foliage, branches and berries using markers.  The finished piece was matted on the card stock, and the sentiment was added to the front.

I hope you have enjoyed today's card! Remember that all of the Technique Junkies Christmas Stamps are 20% off through October 31st; simply use the word Christmas at checkout.
Have a great day!

For today's card, I wanted to create a textural, colorful backdrop for my focal image. It's been a while since I whipped out my embossing folders and much to my delight, I still love them as much as I used to!

I started by embossing, coloring and coloring the Angel of Ascension stamp for the focal image.

To create the textural background, I sprayed plain white cardstock with Timeless, Peacock Feathers, Concord, and Waimea BayColorations Sprays (by Art Anthology).  After spraying randomly, I used a paper twoel to remove the excess spray, heat dryed the paper, then embossed it with an elegant swirl embossing folder.

In order to make the texture really pop, I applied white ink to a finger sponge dabber, and rubbed it over the raised areas on the embossed piece. Since I used the embossing folder to dboss te swirls (they are lower than the rest of the card), the swirled areas retain their color while the plain areas are more subtle.

For the sentiment across the top of the card, I thought the title of the Hark the Herald music background was perfect! It is so much fun to use pieces and parts from other stamps in unique ways.
I simply gold embossed the title and colored the letters with a marker.
To make the angel "fly," I used pop dots over the back, making sure to place the pop-dots on the small areas of the angel so that nothing flattened when on the card.

I hope you are a little inkspired by today's card!

30 Days of Christmas!

Happy Thursday Junkies!
Jerri here to kick off Technique Junkies 30 Days of Christmas.  That's right, check in daily at the  Technique Junkies Design Blog  for 30 days of  inspiration, from now through November 12th.

I am in LOVE with the new stamp called Wood.  I used it twice on this card.  First I stamped Wood on a piece of cardstock in green.  Once stamped,  I cut the stamped image into tree shapes.  I used a Sizzix die but of course you could use any die cutting machine.
Once I had the tree shapes cut out, I rubbed some brown on the edges to add some interest and give them the rustic feel I was going for.
Using the same Wood stamp,  I stamped the background in brown on a piece of lined cardstock.
I used texture paste along the bottom to create snow. Before the paste dried, I applied some glitter to give the card some sparkle.
Once the snow was dry, I cut out a border in red polka dot and glued it to the edges of the card.  The trees were then added using pop dots.
I hope you enjoyed my card.  Have a wonderful rest of your week.

Have a Wonderful Day!
Jerri

Bring on the Swag!

Hey Junkies!

The Crafty Nurse here with a technique from the Simple & Easy Inking CD, called "Background Pop."  This technique is great for using background stamps like the new "Pom Pom Swag" released just this month over at the Technique Junkies site.

After inking the "Pom Pom Swag" background twice, I stamped the super fun "Incrediball Canning Jar Set of 2" and heat embossed with clear over black Versafine ink.  I kept the card very basic and finished off with some black bakers twine and a few black pearls.

Happy Hump Day!

Vintage Botanicals Collage

Hello friends.  Beth Norman here.  I hope my fellow Canadians had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I had a fun weekend which started out with attending an authentic Octoberfest night on Saturday night then went to a friends house for Thanksgiving with her large family.  I had to work on Thanksgiving Monday, but that was okay because I just finished a week's vacation and was rested and ready to get back into routine.

Adult colouring books are all the rage, but who needs them when you can colour up beautiful Technique Junkies stamps like this one?  I used Vintage Botanicals Collage from the Palettini Collection.  I coloured this image with my Prismacolor pencil crayons and OMS while sitting in front of the TV watching my taped TV shows.

Let's see some of your colouring skills.

There is Always Hope

Hi, It's Gini and I've got a fun, new stamp to share with you today, from Technique Junkies! I used the IncrediBall Canning Jar set and mixed it up with parts of the Vintage Daisy Collage.  I stamped the stems into the jar with green ink and then stamped and colored the flowers, and fussy cut them, and "arranged" them in the vase. the sentiment, Always Hope was stamped onto a die cut, and layered behind the jar.

You Are Incredi-ball!

Hello from Judy Jackson!

There is nothing quite home canned goods in the middle of winter. On my canned goods shelves, I have tomatoes, tomato juice (only a few jars), spaghetti sauce, peaches, bread and butter pickles, dill pickles, Chili sauce for a condiment, and soon I will have apple sauce, and some apple pie filling.  In my freezer I have freezer jam with peach jam, strawberry jam, blackberry jam, and red raspberry jam.

My children and my grandchildren have all caught various bugs over the years in canning jars.  I am showing this kind of activity on this card. I used the Technique Junkie Stamps  jar set http://techniquejunkies.com/incrediball-canning-jar-set-of-2/  and this butterfly stamp http://techniquejunkies.com/butterfly2/.

Those same children and grandchildren have made fairy dust that sparkles and shines from "glow sticks" broken open into canning jars.

To create this raspberry jam this is what I did.  I stamped the jars on clear acetate with black Stazon ink.  Then i flipped the acetate and colored the inside of the jar with a red Copic marker.  But now I need the "bumps" for jam.  I used the small dots on the Wasted stamp with red Stazon ink and stamped over the Copic ink.  The saying on the front of the card comes from Mae West Sentiment 2 set http://techniquejunkies.com/mae-west-sentiments-2-set-of-5/.

Do you do any canning in your house to prepare for winter?   Have an inky day!

Watercolor Thank You

Hello!  It's Robin Redd here, with you, today.

I love using Pinterest for inspiration.  I've heard a lot of people say it's a 'time-sucker' but I actually go back and look at my boards for ideas.  And, I love everything on there because I put them there!
lol

I got the idea for this card from Pinterest.

I used Art Anthology Colorations Sprays to create the watercolor background onto watercolor paper.
It was really quite easy to do.  You can visit my blog for detail instructions on how I made it.

I, also, used the S010 Greetings Set for the sentiment.

I don't know if you've realized this but I use this stamp set A LOT!  It's so versatile.
You can make a feminine card or a masculine card or a generic card to fit anyone.

Until next time...
