Advice From An Owl

Hello Junkies!
It's Ceal, here to share with you today. I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday. I so wanted to share another Christmas card but I figured y'all have see enough of those for now.

This card was made for my daughter to give to her sister in law who just graduated from nursing school.
To create my card I started with a white top folding card base and a white panel cut down a quarter of an inch smaller. I stamped the greeting in the middle and then randomly stamped the wise owl around the outside. I used Copic markers to color him.

You can save 10% on this stamp and your entire order excluding new releases and clearance items by using my code TJ10Ceal.

Happy New Year!

Winter's Butterfly

With a few more days left in December, I thought I'd go with a snowflake theme for my card today.
I used the  Snowflakes Set of 9 set to emboss a blue card stock panel with Winter Wonderland embossing powder.  This powder is basically white with silver glitter in it.
I embossed the winter's butterfly verse from the set onto a darker blue panel, and added a strip of silver glitter card stock along the bottom, then attached verse to the snowflake panel with foam tape to give it dimension.

I attached a silver glitter panel to a white A2 card front, then added the embossed snowflake panel to it.  A strip of the darker blue carries the color to balance out the verse.
I added some blue Ranger Enamel dots to the snowflaked, and some opal Liquid Pearls, and silver glitter Liquid Pearls dots.

The card has an icy feel to it, and I like the way the embossing powder has a subtle silver sparkle when the light catches it.

NO DECAF!

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. As you recover from all the holiday happenings, here is a little card to entertain you.

To create the card, I stamped COFFEE KITTY (SD735) on white CS and then masked it off. I stamped one of the wing sets from WHIMSY WINGS, Set of 7 (SS019) over the kitty.  The image was then colored using Tombo markers, and then trimmed down.  I cut down some patterned paper and mounted it with a solid CS, then attached that panel to the A2 kraft card base.  The sentiment from COFFEE QUOTES, Set of 13 (S224) was stamped on cream CS and cut with a die. Foam adhesive was added to the back of the kitty and sentiment and attached to the card. A little shine was added to the wings using NUVO AQUA SHIMMER. Inks used in stamping were from Memento and included Tuxedo Black (cat), Grape Jelly (cup and sentiment), and Lulu Lavender (wings).

Lots of stamps on sale this month. Be sure to check out the clearance sections for UNMOUNTED STAMPS and CLING MOUNTED STAMPS (stamps as low as fifty cents!). And also be sure to add my code at checkout to save 10%!

Hope you enjoyed the project. Have a great rest of your year!

Til next time,
Keepin' it inky!

I Saw Three Ships

Finally, the weekend is here! It's Janelle today with a holiday theme card using an everyday stamp set! I had this beautiful thought while preparing for today's project, and I'll tell you about it but here's some information you'll want to know!

Yesterday, Pat shared a beautiful background idea using glitter tape, and she has a few rolls in supply on the Technique Junkies website! Check out her post for details!

Have fun holiday shopping!

Now to my short story... After working together on a carpentry project and dinner together, our family was unwinding in the living room by singing Christmas carols while we each were glued to our electronic devices. What a sight, right? But it was a good memory as my oldest child was leading us through several songs. With all those carols popping up in my head as I began to create I came across this any occasion stamp set, and there I Saw Three Ships, another caroling song, as inspiration for my card!

Enjoy The Ride

I used Enjoy the Ride stamp set for the three sailing ships masking one to stamp for a farther distant ship in the center. Then it was all just layers of watercolors. I could have easily used chalks or markers for quicker coloring, but I liked the free flow of the watercolor style. Use Ken Oliver Color Bursts Brights Set in a palette tray, they are so vibrant used that way!

Do you spot that beautiful envelope flap? I found the Flower Trio stamp to be the perfect size for my square flap envelope! It's stamped in blue to match my card which I think makes the giving even more delightful!

Flower Trio

I have other ideas for this stamp so stay tuned to my blog in the new year for more ideas! That's all from me today!

TJ Inkspirations: Glorious Glitter Tape Backgrounds

Today I have a technique for you that I used to make some of my Christmas cards. It is quick, easy, and has a real WOW factor! It uses Glitter Tape, a great way to add glitter that just simply stays put.
Santa with Glitter Tape Background
I do have a very small selection of 8 glitter tape colors for sale, so if you love this background, you may purchase the tapes individually ($2.99) or all together ($19.99). Look HERE for the online selection.

What I love about this background is that you can add (or just use) regular washi tape in place of the glitter tape with great results.  The glitter tape is a little thicker, so it is easier to work with, but still, a fun background, as seen in this Snowflake Set card:

I hope you are a little inkspired by today's issue. See you next week!

Sincerely,

For her, for him

Hello friends!
Giovana here today, bringing you a fun card, same design same stamps, different colors, what I called "for her, for him"

These are simple, but love how they turned out.
Here are the details:
Stamp the Big Numbers Background on a piece of watercolor paper in Verrsamark Watermark Ink, add white embossing powder and heat set.
Blend pink and yellow ink on stamp panel.
Trim piece and adhere it to a white card base.
Stamp sentiment from Grand Greeting on a piece of vellum in Red ink, adhere it to card panel, add pink rhinestones and White Nuvo drops.

For the male version I used Gold and and Dazzle Shimmering Bliss and added only White Nuvo drops.

Love this big numbers background! Pretty versatile and perfect for birthday, anniversaries, etc.

You can use my TJ10Giovana code for a 10% discount.

Hope you like it and give it a try!
Have a wonderful day!

Batik Emboss Resist

I love the Emboss Resist Technique ... to me it's always like magic, because you never quite know what the end result will look like until it dries and you wipe away the ink (I like to use baby wipes to really make the embossed texture below shine).

The Batik Background stamp is perfect for some Emboss Resist experimenting with Shimmering Bliss Sprays.   Remember, you can use my discount code TL10Stephanie for 10% off anything in the Technique Junkies Store.

I stamped the Technique Junkies Batik Background in White & Green Ink. clear embossed, and then sprayed both with Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss Spray.

Clearly the white produced the effect I was hoping for ... the green, not so much.  But the lesson here is that just because an experiment didn't turn out like you were hoping for ... doesn't mean it was a failure.

As I looked at the green and blue background, I thought what pretty leaves that design would make.

So I stamped the Batik Background in Dark Green ink on a lighter green cardstock for my card base.  Next I die cut Tim Holtz Skeleton Leaves from the emboss resist background and positioned them on the background.

Finally I stamped Technique Junkies Grunge Thank You in the same Green Ink on a scrap of watercolor paper sprayed with the Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss Spray.

For the second background I incorporated a few more die cut leaves and a sentiment from Technique Junkies Grand Greetings.

As you could see in the first picture, I always stamp on and spray a slightly larger piece of paper than my stamped image, so I have a sprayed background for my sentiment.

For my next background stamped in white ink and clear embossed, I sprayed with two different colors of Shimmering Bliss Spray - Thulian Pink and Mardi Gras Purple. (I use a long narrow cardboard box with the top cut off to contain my spraying).

I love how those colors blend together.

For this one, I used a vertical sentiment from Double Weird Sayings.

For my final Batik Background I went with a more masculine look and sprayed with Chestnut Mare Shimmering Bliss ... such a gorgeous bronze sparkle.

I paired it with a sentiment from Technique Junkies Inside/Out Live Forever.

Here's what the inside says ... having experienced kidney stones myself, I can confirm that pain is like no other.

I just love the rich shimmer of this color when paired with the copper glitter paper.

Hope I've given you some ideas for how to use this gorgeous Batik stamps ... and emboss resist.  The shimmer from the Shimmering Bliss is amazing.

Faith in Your Dreams

I used Technique Junkies Fishing Boat and Faith in Your Dreams  to create this card.   I used  several colors of Shimmering Bliss Sprays and just spritzed over the grass, boat, and water.   You could choose whichever sprays appealed to you! The  verse is stamped and heat embossed on vellum and adhered using my Xyron machine.   I added a brad of sand dollars and starfish.

When you use the discount code TJ10Judy you can save 10% on your entire order.

Have stamp-terrific day -- and get inky!

Snowflakes

Hello Junkies!
It's Ceal, here today to share a winter card with you.
Ya'll, I love all things snow and this set of snowflakes are so gorgeous! I own lots of snowflake sets and I think these are the prettiest! They are a must have!
And you can save 10% off your order by using my code TJ10Ceal

To create my card I started with a white top folding card base, a white panel cut down a quarter of an inch smaller and of course these gorgeous Snowflakes set of 9. I arranged them on the panel, picked them up on the lid of the MISTI and then inked them up with Versamark ink to emboss them with white embossing powder. After they cooled down I created the background using distress inks in Peacock Feathers and Blueprint Sketch blending them with Life Changing Brushes by Picket Fence Studios. The greeting is a single stamp, Snowflakes Fall I also embossed it with white embossing powder so it would stand out against the background.
To finish the card I added a couple snowflake sequins and rhinestones.
