Sunflower Sentiments

Hello Technique Junkie Friends!

Today I am not sharing a Father's Day card!  When I prepared for this post, I totally forgot about it being Dad's Day.  So, today you get a Get Well card made with one of the June Release stamps, the Sunflower Duo stamp.  Looking to shop? You can get 10% off your order with code TJ10LeeAnn .

This beauty was perfect for a technique I had been wanting to try- Copic coloring over distress ink.  I started by smooshing distress inks on my craft mat, spritzing them with water and then pressing my watercolor paper into the inks.  I dried the ink after each layer applied.  Once I had achieved the desired effect, I stamped the Sunflower Duo on top of the dried distress ink with Memento Black Ink.  Using Copics, I then added color/shading on top of the distress ink.
Once I was done coloring, I did a version of the clipped corner technique, only this time instead of a corner, the right side was clipped.  The image was then matted and adhered to the card base.
My sentiment is from the Grand Greeting Sentiment Set.  It was heat embossed in white on vellum.
Lastly, I added a small scallop strip and some sequins for interest and sparkle.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you all enjoy the day and get to squeeze some crafty time in!

Map Collage

Hello Technique Junkies!
It's Ceal here to share another sample with you using a June release stamp, Map Collage
Remember you can save 10% off your order excluding new releases and clearance by using my code TJ10Ceal
To create my card I started with a Smoky Slate card base and a watercolor panel. I used the Daniel Smith iridescent collection to color the image. After it was all colored in and dry I used a postage stamp die to cut down the panel.
Masculine cards can be hard sometimes but this stamp makes it simple especially if someone you love ha a salt life.

TJ Inkspiration: Distress Oxide Reinker Watercoloring

I am militant about purchasing the matching reinker whenever I buy a new ink pad. When I started collecting Distress Oxides inks, it was natural for me to buy the reinker...and of course, I had to look for new ways to use them, too. Today I am happy to share this technique showing how to water color with the reinkers.

When I first started playing around with the idea, I think I was most impressed with how the reinkers looked when they dried.  It is a very pastelly/chalky look that is very color intense.  Not only that, but the entire process was remarkably easy and forgiving (make a mistake? Just add water or dab it with a paper towel!). I was sold and knew I had to share it with you.

I used the SS075 Watermelon Summer Set for this technique:

Swimming Birthday Flamingos

I hope you've been enjoying the inspiration from the Technique Junkies design team for the June release blog hop.    There are some fabulous stamps in this release.  If you have not seen the hop, be sure to stop by and check it out at the above link.

And if you decide to get some of these amazing stamps, please use my code, TJ10Lynda, at checkout for a 10% discount!

Today, I am using the FLAMINGO stamp.

I stamped it three times, and colored it with Arteza real brush pens, then fussy-cut them.  I also stamped one of the flamingos on the FLAMINGOS BACKGROUND  stamp, and fussy-cut that.

I created the background on watercolor paper using the Arteza brush pens with watercolor.  I layered the background piece onto a blue A2 card, then the craft panel, with a stitched die circle with foam tape.  I cut the legs from two of the flamingos, and added them to the background, along with the little one from the background stamp.  I added a full flamingo to the front of the card on the craft panel.  I stamped the HAPPY BIRD-DAY  stamp to the panel with Ranger archival ink.

That's it!  A fun twist on this delightful stamp.  Hope you are inspired to try something different with your stamps today.

 Blessings,

It's a Flamingo Thing!

Let's Flamingle! I have had more fun with this month's releases...especially the flamingos! My love for them started some years ago when we started seasonal camping. One of my friends absolutely hated them and thought they were tacky. So, of course, I embraced them! (tee-hee). I started collecting them and now they bring my site a lot of whimsy and color. And I am known as the Crazy Flamingo Lady.  But actually, they are very beautiful and graceful birds, and who doesn't love a little pink in their life! Since my craft room is done in pink and orange (two of my favorite colors), of course flamingo decor is right up my ally. So these happy little birds are situated all over my space. But enough about my flamingo obsession...on to the card!

One of my favorite cards to make is a shaker card. But, since I love this one so much, I decided to keep it for myself. And instead of a card, I made a stand for the back so I can enjoy it on my bookshelf or desk. I combined a couple of the new flamingo stamps, and one from a while back, which I still absolutely love. (I know, shocking.)

Shaker cards are not as difficult as you may think. Here is how it went together.

I began with a piece of 4.25" x 5.5" (A2 size) orange cardstock. I stamped the Flamingos Background Stamp (S789) using Versamark Ink. After heat embossing with some bright pink embossing powder, I set it aside and moved on to the next step.

Using an A2 sized piece of pink cardstock, I used a die and cut out a window. I then spritzed the piece with some Art Anthology spray to give it a little detail. On the reverse side of the panel, I adhered a piece of clear acetate for the window. I then added dimensional foam adhesive tape to create a "well" for the shaker elements.

While still face down, I carefully added my little shaker bits (hearts and stars in pinks and oranges). I peeled the protective tape from the foam strip and carefully placed the orange panel on top, making sure I had a good seal so no bits escaped.

I then cut a frame out of orange CS and the same die I used for the window, plus one size larger. I adhered that around the window, and added some silver sticker decorations to three of the four corners.

I then stamped the Flamingo 1 Stamp (SD890) on a piece of white cardstock and used my Brother Scan-N-Cut to cut out the image. I used colored pencils to color it in, then added a couple of layers of Clear Wink of Stella to give it a little shimmer. I then attached the bird to the front of the card.

On another piece of white CS, I stamped the sentiment portion of the Flamingo Stamp (SD659) in black ink. I cut each line of the sentiment into a separate piece and glued them randomly down the side of the frame.

Instead of making this a card, which I could have done by simply attaching it to an A2 card base, I decided to add a stand to the back. I used a simple easel design and cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo, and attached it to the back.

As I was typing out this post, I happened to look over and had to take just one more pic...the project looks so cute sitting next to my Flamingo cup! Yup, Crazy Flamingo Lady!

If you are as crazy about flamingos as I am (or even if you're not quite that crazy), you can save 10% on these and other stamps and products by adding this code when you check out (the code never expires!):

YOU ARE A HOOT

Hi there, Junkies!!!

I hope you're all doing well.  I've got a super cute card for you today, using the stamp set "You Are A Hoot" from the May 2018 release.  This set has seven stamps and is a real bargain for your collection.  If you'd like to grab it, you can use my discount code TJ10Cheri for a full 10% off this set, plus any an all other stamps you might like.

The process I used to make this card is very simple and a great way to use small stamps.  I first stamped the little owl where I wanted her on my card base.  Then made a mask by die cutting an oval negative in a piece of regular copy paper the size of my card base and in the position that would expose the owl.  I fussy cut a little mask for the owl and covered the stamped image and then sponged through the opening and around the owl mask.

Once the sponging was complete, I colored the owl with Copic Markers and added the sentiment.  A splatter effect was made with dye inks (including the one I used in the bg) which gave it more interest and detail.  I then die cut the panel from a scalloped die and mounted it on a neutral card base.   One more final touch was to use Nuvo Glitter Pen in silver to add some glitz and bling to the splatters.  (A girl's gotta have some glitz and bling, right?).

I hope this inspired you and don't forget to grab my 10% discount if you'd like to purchase any Technique Junkies Stamps in the store.  Just place the discount code in the area marked for it at check out.

Sponge at least two colors of lighter ink on your cardstock. I used Ranger Distress Mustard Seed and Twisted Citron for my project. You can add ink in any pattern you like.

Spread white glue onto your sponged panel. Leave some spaces open. You can make a pattern or just smear it on. I squirted a few lines straight from the bottle and smeared it across my paper with a scrap piece of cardstock.

Once your glue is dry (mine took about an half hour) sponge a darker color over the panel. I used Ranger Distress Wild Honey for my card. Wipe off extra ink.

Using my MISTI Stamp Tool I stamped the sunflower (Sunflower Duo) and colored and cut out. I also stamped the Bless Your Heart sentiment from Butter My Butt (set of 8)

Here's a closer look at my finished card.

Have a great day! Jeanne
