Wedding Scribble Roses

This weekend I purchased some Distress Resist Spray, so I thought I'd give it a try with the Scribble Roses Stencil.  Remember, you can use my code TJ10Stephanie for 10% off your entire purchase at the Technique Junkies Store (which includes stencils, stamps and other products).

Unfortunately I didn't get quite the resist effect I was hoping for (as the spray dried it seeped under the stencil itself, so I didn't get quite the striking resist I was hoping for).

However, when things don't turn out the way you planned ... there is always Plan B ... which for me was some beautiful Wedding cards.  For the blue one, there was a little residual red ink still on the stencil which seeped into the paper (one of those happy accidents) and then when that ink combined with the Ocean Depth Shimmering Bliss Spray, I got hints of purple peeking through the design.

I added a paper flower, some deconstructed bling flourishes and a lovely Mr. & Mrs. Sentiment from the new Technique Junkies Wedding Wishes Stamp Set.

I decided to stick with the Wedding theme for my second card.  In the picture above, I used some Red Distress Inks direct to paper ... but when I went to assemble my card, the red ink started rubbing off, so I wiped it clean and then used some beautiful Thulian Pink and Harvest Sunset Shimmering Bliss Sprays to achieve this gorgeous background.

I added another great Sentiment from Wedding Wishes, some heart bling and then I *tied the knot* with a piece of wide white ribbon.

Remember, if your first attempt doesn't turn out exactly how you pictured in your mind, there is always Plan B.

Be a Pineapple

Hello fellow stampers and friends.  Wow, wasn't April's release awesome!?  I had a lot of fun making this card, using Be a Pineapple.  It took precision in my Misti and instead of magnets I had to tape everything with Washi tape.  How in the world I lost two magnets is beyond my imagination.  Have any of you lost magnets? Directions for making this card is below.

For your 10% discount on this stamp, and other purchases in your shopping cart (excludes clearance items), feel free to use TJ10Beth

One of my favourite technique is to sponge inks, blending them to see what the cool results will be.  The directions are listed below:

  1. Take a large pieces of cardstock and cut a triangle in the centre.
  2. Cut a 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch piece of cardstock and holding the cardstock up to the window, or light, centre your card and with painter's tape or Washi tape, tape to ends to the large cardstock
  3. Using the lighter colour (here I used Daffodil Delight) blend the centre, going close to the edges.
  4. Using a darker colour (here I used Pumpkin Pie) and holding down the cardstock good and tight, ink up your edges, blending into the centre.  Be sure you leave lots of lighter colour visible.
  5. Place the large cardstock into your Misti and stamp until you achieve results that make you happy.
  6. Carefully remove all tape and whalaa, you now have this beautiful one-layer card.
Once I buy new magnets, I'll make many more of these cards.  Sponging is so fun!

Thanks for stopping by!

Zendoodle Giraffe

Happy Sunday!  I'm back again today with a card from the Technique Junkies April release.  If you have not seen the release celebration, be sure to check it out HERE.   All of the stamps from the release can be found HERE, on the Technique Junkies website.

I had so much fun coloring this stamp and creating my card today.

How fun is this stamp!!!  It is called Zendoodle Giraffe.
I also used an older stamp, Stand Tall (verse on front and image inside).

I inked the Zendoodle Giraffe stamp onto Strathmore vellum bristol, with VersaFine Claire nocturne ink.  When dry, I colored this awesome gal with Arteza Fineliner pens.  I originally tried markers, brush markers, even colored pencil.  But the lines are very teeny tiny, and I wanted to get as much detail as I could in my coloring, and they were just too big.  That's when I pulled out these amazing Fineliner pens.  The tips are extra fine, like the .04 micron pens!

Once colored, I toyed with different options for the card design.  I decided I wanted the giraffe recessed in a window.  I used a die to create a square opening in a black card stock panel.  I added the black panel to the stamped panel with foam tape for dimension, then added this to a muted amber card stock, then onto a white card.

For the verse, I used the Stand Tall stamp.  I drew the stems and leaves in Zendoodle fashion to mimic the ones on the image, and colored them with the same pens.  I mounted this panel to some of the amber card stock, then onto the card above the window.

I drew some black dots with my micron pen for the finishing touch.

And for the inside, and my ooooops incident......

Ooooops because, as I was stamping the image, I caught just a little line from the edge of the rubber.  I thought about re-stamping and creating a liner to cover it up, but then took out my water brush and scribbled on some wild honey distress ink around the image, hoping I could work out the line.  It wasn't budging.  So, I went for it and took a small stamp, and touched the edge of it into the ink pad, then tapped it on the image.  I repeated across and up and down to create a sort of pattern.  Voila!  My oooops turned into a background idea that I may even use again!  Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

So...why did I go on about this?  Well, I thought it might give someone else an idea for if this happens to them.  And, yes, it happens, even to seasoned stampers.  You're welcome!

I hope you like my card, and have been inspired to try this fabulous giraffe gal, or some of the other amazing stamps from this April release.  Don't forget, all of the new release stamps are 15% off for one more day, until April 8th!

AND.... use my code, TJ10Lynda, for an EXTRA 10% off!  That's 25% off these release stamps!!
Thank you for visiting and reading my rambling.

How about you, has this ever happened to you?  How did you fix it, or did you start again?

Blessings,

Birthday Dahlias

Hello Junkies!
It's Ceal, here to share a card with you. When I saw this dahlia stamps I just had to make it one of my choices for the release. It's super fun to color and I have two daughters who love floral cards so it was a must have for my collection. You can save 15% off this stamp and all new stamps (15 of them) from now thru the 8th of April and save an additional 10% by using my code TJ10Ceal

To create this card I started with a top folding white card base and a white pane cut down a quarter of an inch smaller. I stamped the dahlia image using Gina K's Black Amalgam ink and colored it using Copic markers. I created the background using the Classic Harlequin stencil from A Colorful Life,  the Life Changing Blending Brushes by Picket Fence Studios, which really are Life Changing and some Prickly Pear ink by Gina K designs

Being a CAS stamper I very rarely use patterned paper although I have a ton of it. Stencils are a great way to give you card a subtle background and still be clean & simple.

Floral Border

I love it when you can take plain black cardstock and make it look elegant. That's just what happened on this card. With the stunning Floral Border Stamp (SD914) and a sentiment from the Anniversary Set (SS100), and some Versamark with a twist, the card turned out very elegant (in my very humble opinion, lol).

To create this card, I started with a piece of black cardstock cut to 4" x 5.50". The image was stamped on the MISTI using Versamark, then dusted with Perfect Pearls (Pearl). I wanted a little more shimmer, so I dusted the entire piece of cardstock with Perfect Pearls then took a soft brush and removed the excess powder, which left it with a beautiful sheen across the whole piece. To add even a little more glam and glimmer, I added more shimmer to the flowers and leaves with a Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen. Just look at this closeup! So pretty.

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and shined it up with some silver embossing powder. To finish off the card, I attached the black panel to a gray card base and added some pearls for a little extra elegance.

The stamp sets I used were just two of the 15 new releases for April! All these wonderful stamps are on sale for 15% off only until the 8th of this month, so you better hurry!
