Lighthouse on Cliff

Hi there!

It's my day to post on the Technique Junkies Design blog. I have 2 cards to share today, using a beautiful new release stamp, #S939 Lighthouse on Cliff, from Technique Junkies. 

Here's my first card:

This card front was made by stamping the image #S939 Lighthouse on Cliff, and sentiment #SS136 Lighthouse Sentiments with Distress Oxide Hickory Smoke ink. Using the same ink, an Ink Blending Brush, and A Colorful Life Designs Cloud Edger Stencil, some gray clouds were added.

Moving on to card two:

Isn't this stunning? The image #S939 Lighthouse on Cliff, and sentiment #SDX063 Better Things were stamped onto a piece of beautiful patterned paper with Memento black ink.

Folks, it doesn't get much easier, or much prettier than these two cards!

Cardmaking Tutorial | Stamping Leopard Print

 

Leopard print goes with everything!

This is the leopard-print stamp you have been waiting for! Learn to used your Distress Oxide inks to EASILY color this stamp from Technique Junkies! 

Follow along with me in my step-by-step video tutorial for making this fun and glamorous card!

I actually combined the "Leopard Set of 6" stamp set with the "More Fabulous" stamp set. The lady on the "More Fabulous" stamp was just perfect to embellish the leopard print and the sentiment! 

I just happened to have an animal-print embossing folder in my stash! 

See the slightly raised leopard-print pattern? So cool...

I had to use a mask to achieve the leopard print skirt and hat for the lady. I just used a scrap piece of vinyl to create the mask. Once I stamped the basic image, I pulled the mask off of the skirt and hat and put the "outline" mask over her. Then, I could easily color in the skirt and hat with oxide inks. Feel free to check out the video tutorial to see how this is done! 

I stamped and embossed the sentiment on a piece of vellum and attached the vellum over the card panel with brads. After fussy-cutting the lady, I attached her to the vellum using Zots Mini Dots.

I love how this card turned out!

A Study in Lavender Collage

 

Good morning!  Today I'm sharing my results of a study using the new Lavender Collage stamp from Technique Junkies.  If you look closely at the picture above, the two cards are stamped the same but the colors are reversed.  I wanted to see how these would look with purple ink and with white embossing powder.

Both cards are stamped with Lavender Collage and the sentiment is from the Difficult Time set from Technique Junkies.  I stamped them with purple ink onto white cardstock for the card on the left.  For the card on the right, I stamped these with Versamark onto lavender cardstock, covered them with white embossing powder, and melted the powder with a heat tool.  You can see the close-up pictures below.

These two cards are very different even though their stamps, colors, and composition are the same.  I love the delicateness of the purple inked collage, and I love how the white embossed card is so crisp and detailed.  Which one is your favorite?

Wildflower Hiking Boots | Emboss Resist ~ Reinker water coloring

I made three cards, each using the emboss resist water coloring technique.  These are part of the August 2021 New Release from Technique Junkies. I used an emboss resist technique to water color my cards. The first one (pictured above) is colored with reinkers from Catherine Pooler.  I layered the stamped imagine, as well as the sentiment,  on top of a mat that I ink blended with Catherine Pooler Inks. I created a video tutorial on my YouTube channel with step-by-step details on how I put these cards together:

For my second card, I used the same emboss resist technique, and I water colored with Zig Clean Color dye ink makers. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment directly below the image. I layered the stamped imagine, as well as the sentiment, on top of a special mat layer. This mat was created with Vivid Volt and Mindaro Shimmering Bliss Sprays. I used the Skeleton Leaf Stencil from a Colorful Life Designs. This stencil is available at Technique Junkies. I ink blended on top of the stencil, using Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink. I trimmed the top panel and used the Crop-A-Dile - 2 in 1 Corner Punch Chomper Tool to cut rounded corners. 

For my final card, I water colored the embossed image with Zig Clean Color dye ink makers. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment directly below the image. I dried the water colored boots and and sprayed the entire panel with Mixed Metals Shimmering Bliss spray from Technique Junkies. I used hairspray as a fixative for the Simmering Bliss spray. I trimmed the top panel and used the Crop-A-Dile - 2 in 1 Corner Punch Chomper Tool to cut rounded corners. I used the A Colorful Life Designs new Mountain Edger Stencils to create a background panel. I used Catherine Pooler inks to ink blend the stencils and created mountain ranges. I also used the A Colorful Life Designs Cloud Edger Stencil, available at Technique Junkies, to create clouds above the mountains.

Memories Sweet and Fragrant

 

Memories sweet and fragrant reminds me of summers spent with my grandmother.  One of the things she liked to do was to take us mushroom hunting in the woods.

Believe it or not, my background was created using my GelliPlate.  My girlfriend and I get together to work on backgrounds and try new things.  For example, we spent an afternoon experimenting with kitchen products purchased at a thrift store.  We dipped parts of the item into black paint and pressed off black paint.  My favourite items were a 2" mini kitchen grater and a potatoe masher. It's safe to visit me for dinner because these items are strictly for artwork.
